If you’re suffering from insomnia, you’re not alone. About one out of every three adults will experience insomnia at some time in their lives. In addition, between 10 and 15 percent of adults are afflicted by chronic insomnia. While insomnia is classified as a symptom rather than a sleep disorder, it can be serious enough to undesirably affect your alertness, energy level and mental acuity.

Insomnia is characterized by an inability to either fall asleep or remain asleep throughout the night. Experts say that if insomnia persists for more than three or four weeks, you should probably seek medical attention. But if you haven’t yet reached that point, there are several steps you can take to improve your chances of getting a good night’s sleep.

Relaxation Techniques

The first option you can attempt is “proactive relaxation.” This method involves taking an active role in preparing yourself to get restful sleep instead of just hoping you’ll be tired when bedtime rolls around. Practicing proactive relaxation may be a simple as listening to soothing music, taking a warm bath, or engaging in prayer or meditation before bedtime.

In addition, there are various breathing exercises you can perform while in bed right before or just after you turn out the light. Such a regimen can lower your blood pressure and heart rate, which will enable your body to relax. You can also try progressive muscle relaxation, which involves alternating between flexing and relaxing individual muscles and then focusing on the release of tension. This helps your body get rid of any physical stress or strain in preparation for slumber.

You can also use your mind to relax your body through cognitive therapy. This approach utilizes techniques such as visualization or meditation to achieve mental relaxation. Cognitive therapy can be learned through face-to-face counseling or in a group session. If you want to manage your whole body in an effort to relax, consider biofeedback training to control your parasympathetic nervous system. This practice involves using medical instruments to measure various bodily processes and then employing proactive relaxation or cognitive therapy. Those who are skilled in biofeedback can actually alter their bodies’ internal functions in order to achieve restful sleep.

Lifestyle Changes

There are also certain lifestyle changes you can make to manage insomnia. Getting regular exercise can help train your body to differentiate between active and restful time periods within a given day. About 20 to 30 minutes of daily exercise is recommended, but it should not be completed close to bedtime.

Another strategy is to avoid eating large meals right before it is time to go to sleep. Your body’s natural digestive procedures may keep it in “work” mode instead of letting it sink into “rest” mode. You should also try to minimize or avoid alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine – especially in the afternoon and evening hours. These substances can wreak havoc on a variety of bodily processes and have a significant effect on your ability to fall asleep.

Alternate Methods

If you want to try a different method, you might be able to “trick” yourself into becoming sleepy. One way to do this is to temporarily “succumb” to insomnia and actually restrict your sleep schedule. If you stay up later or wake up earlier than usual for a day or two, your body may naturally yearn for the sleep that you are making it go without. Ideally, when you return to your regular sleep schedule, your sleep-deprived body will permit you to fall asleep easily.

Another so-called trick is known as “light therapy.” Because our bodies are naturally trained to be active during daylight, you may want to go outside in the evenings for about a half hour before it gets dark. This may help your body distinguish between the times when it should be awake and asleep. Light therapy can also be practiced with a medical-grade light box.

Insomnia Medication

If your insomnia persists despite your best efforts to banish it, you might find relief from certain medications. Various over-the-counter drugs, as well as prescription medications such as Ambien, Lunesta, Ativan, and Halcion, are designed to make you feel sleepy; but physicians generally discourage their use for longer than a few weeks. Some doctors have found longer-term success in treating insomnia by prescribing melatonin, Rozerem, or antidepressants.

Before opting for pills, be sure that you do not have any allergic reactions to these medicines, or that any other drugs you are taking will adversely react with the sleep medications and cause illness or other health problems.

Insomnia can be annoying and frustrating, but you don’t have to resolve yourself to a lifetime of sleepless nights. You should make an effort to address the underlying causes of your insomnia and work toward regaining a good night’s rest. Because if you don’t get your seven or eight hours of sleep per night, it can have an adverse effect on your mood, productivity, health, and interpersonal relationships. So stop ignoring insomnia before it gets out of hand.

I was watching television the other day and was surprised by an advertisement for a supplement which was intended as an adjunct to anti-depressant drugs. I wish I had noted what was said but a statistic was stated about the number of anti-depressants which don't affect the required cure for depression. The percentage was really very high.

It is always difficult to trace the root cause of depression. Is it a chemical imbalance which results in depression, or is it a pattern of thought which results in a change in chemical balance? In reality, an interaction is constantly at play between mind and body which has a cyclical effect.

Anti-depressant drugs inevitably provide an intervention from a chemical angle, but cannot treat the way in which you think or tap into your habitual thought processes. The ideal treatment for depression would in fact include approaches from both angles. Unfortunately due to the cost of professional time, it is easier and cheaper to purely prescribe drugs to help overcome depression and overlook methods of treatment which involve modifying the way in which you think.

We all know that the way in which we think automatically triggers an emotional reaction. If you think about your favorite movie a smile will probably cross your face; it automatically lifts your mood. If you contemplate a horror movie you will associate with the heart pumping, tight chest, sitting on the edge of your chair (or head underneath a pillow!) response it elicits. Thoughts create emotions and their associated chemical effects throughout your physiology.

One aspect of depression which is extremely frustrating is the helplessness experienced; you feel out of control. It is therefore important to do everything you can to regain a sense that you are once more in the driving seat in your day to day life. Taking a tablet makes you feel that you are doing something which will hopefully cure depression, but is there not more that you could be doing as well?

The placebo response in drug trials is normally seen to be at around 30%, which tells us that just by thinking that a treatment will work places you in the position that your treatment for depression is 30% more likely to be successful. You could use hypnosis to access your subconscious mind and make suggestions to create a positive expectation of successful treatment of depression. In this way you can feel far more in control, and work on your depression from the mental perspective as well as from a chemical angle.

Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation and you can learn to use hypnosis easily with the help of a hypnosis mp3 download. This is inexpensive (you can get a free hypnosis relaxation download from my website) and you can get started right away. With hypnosis you have easy access to your subconscious mind which is that part where habitual patterns of thought are stored. Suggestions can be made to retrain your mind to think is a different way. Remember your thoughts create your emotions and the chemical reactions which are felt within your physiology.

You can use hypnosis to regain a feeling of control, change your deep rooted patterns of thought and lift your mood.

So you think you might be depressed. You may not know how you got this way, or why you can’t seem to shake this dark cloud that’s been hovering over you for as long as you can remember. But you’re starting to think that something isn’t the way it’s supposed to be.

But maybe you’re also a bit put off by all the depression treatments you’ve been reading about. Taking drugs? Starting therapy? Talking about your problems? Going to support groups? Exercising and eating different foods? It sure seems like a lot of drastic changes to make — and you’ve already got plenty of other obligations. And you’ve gone through much of your life without having to do any of these things — so why start now? Will these lifestyle changes really make a difference?

Yes, they will.

If you take steps to manage your depression, even one or two small steps, you can substantially improve the quality of your life. Here are some of the ways your life could be different. Imagine…

Seeing the Glass as Half Full

Right now, it’s easy to see the dark side of life. Why try dating when it’ll probably just lead to rejection and heartbreak? Why go to the concert and fight all those crowds? Why clean the baseboards in the house if they’re just going get dirty again? This may be pretty typical of the thoughts that automatically pop into your mind. But imagine how it would be if your first thoughts were something like, “Maybe I’ll call him/her. What have I got to lose?” “That sounds like a fun show – maybe I’ll go,” or “Cleaning the baseboards won’t take long – and the room will look so much better!” It may be hard to believe, but those types of positive thoughts, regardless of how small they may seem, can have a major impact on your overall state of mind.

No More Constant Fatigue or Tiredness

Maybe right now, you feel tired all the time. Or it seems like your muscles and joints are sore and you get a lot of headaches. Perhaps it’s a battle just to get out of bed in the morning. If you think back to sometime in your past, you’ll remember that you didn’t always have trouble waking up, and you didn’t feel sluggish or achy during the day either. If you seek help for depression, you could feel that way again. Eliminating or reducing the physical symptoms of depression can give you a whole new lease on life.

Free Yourself from the Inertia of Depression

You think you might have the words “stuck in a rut” tattooed on your forehead. Sometimes it takes all of your effort just to run to the grocery store or pick up your dry cleaning. You don’t ever feel like shopping for clothes or getting your car washed. And you never even consider major life changes, such as looking for a new job or taking a night class.

Remember the times when getting your daily chores done wasn’t a “chore?” When you’d jump in your car or hop on your bike to go get something on a whim? When you weren’t the least bit intimidated by making a change or trying something new? Well, depression and inertia go hand in hand, so if you get rid of one, the other will soon follow.

Not Overreacting to Little Things

Do you often wonder why you get irritated by minor criticism, a speeding driver passing you on the freeway, or even the loud laughter of someone near you in a park? You used to be able to let those trifling annoyances slide off you like water off a duck’s back, if you even noticed them at all. It’s all a matter of keeping things in perspective — and getting help for depression can make a tremendous difference in your perspective.

Not Thinking of Social Engagements as Chores

You’re pretty good at coming up with excuses when your friends call or text you and tell you to meet them somewhere. You avoid any bars, clubs, or other entertainment venues like the plague. And if you can’t get out of a party or get-together, you grumble the whole time you’re getting ready for it and you stay only as long as you have to. You may recall that there was a time that you actually liked being with your friends. You may have even enjoyed socializing with your co-workers or hanging out with your family. So what’s the big difference now between you and all the people out there having fun? It’s probably the depression.

When you find the right kind of depression help, you can enjoy spending time with the people you love and care about again. This is one of the most meaningful pleasures life has to offer.

Laughing and Enjoying Life Again

If you’re depressed, there’s a good chance you hardly laugh at all anymore (unless it’s to be polite). And you can’t remember the last time you actually did something for enjoyment’s sake. Remember when this wasn’t the case? You laughed with your friends and did things that were actually fun? And you planned social activities and looked forward to them and even laughed about them for weeks afterward? Remember, the good times are not gone forever. You are not doomed to a life of pain and dejection. You can feel good again.

Perhaps it is time to make a change for the better.

Make an appointment to see your doctor (or a nurse, counselor, or therapist) and tell him or her that you might be depressed. He or she can get you started on an appropriate treatment plan that may include therapy sessions, medications, and adjustments to your diet, exercise, or sleep regimen.

You won’t see a drastic change overnight, but after several weeks of treatment, things may start to get better. You won’t feel as run down all the time. You’ll gradually stop sweating the small stuff. You’ll stop equating daily chores and social engagements with root canals or fingernails on a chalkboard. You will even surprise yourself by smiling quite a bit more.

Best of all, you’ll reacquaint yourself with that strange feeling that you may have thought had vanished from your life forever — hope.

Depression

Depression is a complicated condition with many different symptoms and manifestations. Symptoms of depression can be so diverse that they can sometimes seem contradictory. And the various types of depression can also vary widely, depending on the underlying causes. For example, post partum depression, which affects women who have just given birth, is a very severe condition that can impact women with no history of mental illness or depression.

The first three conditions listed are considered distinct depressive disorders. They impair everyday function in normal individuals and can cause severe emotional distress and/or trauma. Additionally, these types of depression are not caused by another medical condition or by drugs, prescription or otherwise.

Manic Depression

If your depressive episodes are followed by periods of high energy, optimism and active behavior, you might actually be suffering from manic depression. This form of depression, which is now known in the medical community as bipolar disorder, can be characterized by mood swings between mania and depression, or may consist only of severe manic episodes. Manic behavior includes a decreased need for sleep; extreme energy levels; a compulsion to talk or “chatter;” an inflated sense of self importance; excessive moment; a focus on goal oriented activities (like school, or a sudden desire to paint the house); racing thoughts and being very easily distracted.

People experiencing a manic episode might also engage in unhealthy levels of pleasurable activity, such as seeking out intercourse at the expense of safety or going on shopping sprees. Extreme cases may include hallucinations or delusions, and may even require hospitalization.

Major Depressive Disorder

Major depressive disorder, also known as clinical depression, is marked by depressive episodes that last most of the day every day for at least two weeks at a time. If a major depressive episode lasts for two years or more, it’s characterized as chronic depression. The two most notable symptoms of clinical depression include a depressed mood or attitude and/or a lack of interest in formerly pleasurable activities. In addition to these two major symptoms, at least four of the following symptoms must be present for a clinical depression diagnosis:

· Change in appetite or interest in food, leading to significant weight gain or loss

· Difficulty sleeping or sleeping too much

· Energy loss or fatigue

· Difficulty thinking, making decisions or concentrating

· Thinking about death by suicide, attempting suicide, or having a plan for attempting suicide

· Feelings of guilt or worthlessness

· Slowing down physically, or exhibiting excessive movement

Dysthymic Disorder

Also known as dysthymia, dysthymic disorder is characterized by a constant or nearly constant depressed mood that last for at least two years. It has many of the same symptoms as clinical depression, but does not generally include thoughts of suicide. This condition is regarded as a more persistent, but less dangerous or severe condition than clinical depression. The symptoms of dysthymic disorder typically do not occur for more than two months at a time, and only two symptoms need to be observed in order to make a diagnosis.

There are several other types of depression that have more concrete, distinct causes. These conditions include:

Post Partum Depression

This condition is characterized by major depression that follows the birth of a child. It begins usually within the first four weeks after having a baby, and can get much worse if it is left untreated.

While the direct causes of this condition are still under speculation, many medical professionals believe that hormonal changes, fatigue and a possible strain on marital relations are strong contributing factors.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Seasonal affective disorder surfaces during a certain time of year, especially winter or autumn. This depression can be major, and is diagnosed when depressive episodes do not occur at any other time of the year for at least two years. This condition is typically more common in women than in men, and is more likely to affect those who live far from the equator.

Psychotic Depression

This condition is a form of major depression that also includes delusions, hallucinations or other psychotic symptoms. If you are hearing voices while depressed or experience paranoia or other false beliefs, you maybe suffering from psychotic depression.

Catatonic Depression

This form of major depression is rare, and may include loss of ability to react to your environment with voluntary movement; excessive purposeless movement; unwillingness to speak or a resistance to follow directions or suggestions; bizarre or involuntary movements or facial expressions; or involuntarily repeating the words or movements of others in a way that is meaningless or purposeless. If you have at least two of these symptoms, you may be suffering from catatonic depression.

Understanding which type of depression you’re experiencing is one of the most important steps to finding the right management plan. Remember that for every form of depression, there are a number of resources and support networks you can turn to for help.

Natural migraine relief

There are many natural ingredients as well as therapies that provide relief from migraines. They are:

Feverfew: This herb has been used for centuries as a remedy for headache, migraine, arthritis, pain, and fever. It became especially popular in England in the 1980s as an alternative to conventional drugs for migraines.

5-HTTP: 5-Hydroxytryptophan is a compound produced in the body from the amino acid tryptophan. It is used in the body to make the neurotransmitter serotonin and the hormone melatonin. It is also available in supplement form. Research indicates that it may prevent migraines and reduce the frequency and severity of migraines.

Magnesium: A mineral that is found naturally in foods such as green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains and in nutritional supplements, it regulates blood sugar levels. It is also needed for normal muscle and nerve function, heart rhythm, functioning of the immune system, blood pressure, and for bone health. Its effectiveness has been studied for migraine relief and promising results were received.

Butterbur: Extracts from this herb have been used to treat migraines, stomach cramps, coughs, allergies, and asthma. Several studies suggest that butterbur helps to prevent migraines.

Acupuncture: A component of traditional Chinese medicine, it is based on the belief that living beings have a vital energy, called ‘qi’, that circulates through twelve invisible energy lines known as meridians on the body. Each meridian is associated with a different organ system. Acupuncturists insert needles into specified points along meridian lines to influence the restore balance to the flow of ‘qi’. There are over 1,000 acupuncture points on the body. Migraines and tension headaches are effectively treated through the use of acupuncture.

Biofeedback: This is a tool that helps control migraines. With the use of special equipment patients are taught how to monitor and control certain physical responses, such as muscle tension and heart rate. Although not a cure-all, it is a good adjunctive therapy.

Chiropractic: Chiropractic focuses on the musculoskeletal and the nervous system, and the effects of their disorders on general health. Chiropractic treatment primarily includes treating neuromusculoskeletal complaints, like back pain, neck pain, joint pain, and headaches.

Co Q10: This is a naturally-occurring compound found in every cell in the body. It plays a key role in producing energy in the mitochondria, the part of a cell responsible for the production of energy in the form of ATP. People use this as migraine treatment also.

Fish Oil: ingesting fish oil capsules may have beneficial effects on migraine.

Magnets: A new therapy that involves the use of magnetic pulses to treat people with chronic migraine with aura may be a safe alternative to drugs.

Massage Therapy: Sometimes acute muscle tension in the neck and shoulders may also lead to migraine. Massaging these muscles to relieve the tension may help cure migraines.

Cefaly for migraine treatment

Cefaly, a novel medical device, has been specially designed to prevent and treat chronic and recurrent headaches. It relieves pain and suffering caused by migraine, tension headaches, cluster headaches and stress related headaches. Cefaly utilises sophisticated, state of art technology to apply tried and tested TENS therapy in a novel device that is lightweight, simple to use with proven effectiveness.

Cefaly generates gentle electric impulses that act on the nerve cells and influence the nerves most affected by pain. The electrode in Cefaly covers the centre of the forehead and establishes contact between the nerves innervating the area. Consequently, it acts on all the nerves in the area that are most associated with migraines and headaches.

Bi-Polar Disorder Often Undiagnosed

Many people undergo from bi-polar disorder, and unfortunately it is oftentime undiagnosed. Some people undergo for time before they lastly get the accepted help while some never get help at all and end up suicidal. When it is diagnosed, it takes special medication modification to help at the appropriate time, as well as counselling.
They can, however, undergo awfully from depression and sometime this depression will come roaring down on them all at once from slaughter of a loved one, job, relationship, etc and it will be very hard for them to survive.

Cyclothymic Disorder is when a part has a time of mania and depression but not to a foremost boundary. Their hyper and depressive episodes can go back and forward over a time of time, but not enough to endure packed criteria of foremost depression. Those diagnosed with Cyclothymic Disorder do have strife functioning at time.

In brightness of the information that about fifteen million people sustain depressive disorder and another nineteen million people sustain anxiety, a count of medications have come out on the marketplace directed at cutting symptoms of depressive disorder, stress, and anxiety. These medications consist of all biological anti-depressants, in addition to prescription drugs which may just be received below a physician passport.

With each of the various depressive disorder and anxiety prescription drugs accessible on the marketplace, there are some that cause severe side effects that are occasionally bigger than the depressive disorder itself. A lot of patients can't bear them. A few potential side effects of Zoloft consist of a 25% risk of gastrointestinal upset, 25% risk of headaches, 21% risk of insomnia, 13% risk of drowsiness (somnolence), 14% risk of sex disfunction, 14% risk of xerostomia, 12% risk of lightheadedness, self-destructive inclinations and other.

Several of those patients troubled with depressive disorder and/or anxiety have addressed all biological antidepressant drugs that are quite efficient with trivial or zero side effects. These all natural antidepressant drugs hold components that have been in use for hundreds of years in relieving depressive disorder symptoms and impressions of anxiety. A lot of health care practicians are applying all natural antidepressant drugs earlier recurring to prescription medicine.

Nevertheless, you must think to adopt the suggested usage that accompany the medication so that to reach utmost effects with these medications. You will frequently discover various all natural antidepressant drugs holding in a obscuring range of components. You should unquestionably seek a medication that holds in components such as Kava Kava, 5-HTP, Valerian, GABA, and L-Theanine which own clinical validation backing up their strength.
Everyone gets depressed from time to time. And considering the very frightening times we're living in, it's no wonder that more and more people are feeling increased anxiety and what can be called depression.

Major depression is very severe and only the sufferer knows what he or she goes through. Just thinking over and over again that you will be the next person to end up in depression will probably make you end up in it for sure. But this will not be major depression.

The outside factors also play a role in influencing the brain to release the right amount of certain chemicals which are very important. These chemicals help the brain to regulate. This is called major depression.

There are many different types of depression, from postpartum depression which of course occurs after a woman has had a baby, as well as bipolar disorder which is marked by wild mood swings of euphoria to near suicidal thoughts, and many other types in between.

The most severe form of depression is Major depression and this is due to the low moods of a person. This is not always a suicidal condition but it can be due to daily struggles. The struggles could be getting out of bed on time or try to spend time in doing something fun and enjoyable.

Patients with major depression often see no point to any activity, even hobbies they once enjoyed. They may also have no feelings towards those around them; they often feel numbness rather than closeness when it comes to their spouse and even their own children. Very often things they would have once taken care of now are ignored, and this might include their own personal care and hygiene.

It is a terrible thing to end up in depression and to add to it if there is no family support then it's drastic. Family doesn't help their loved ones — sufferer thinking they will also end up in the same diesease.

This makes it even worse for the patient. As family members we should always keep in mind that this condition is a diesease not something the patient has chosen. The patient also can't run away from his responsibilities.

Proper medication needs to be taken when it comes to this condition. You need not feel shy about your condition if you want to get better. Also now we have more than enough products in the market which will help you get better soon with very few side effects than before.

If you are experiencing <a href="http://www.mycurefordepression.com/blog/major-depression-is-it-you">symptoms of major depression</a>, then you must find a <a href="http://www.mycurefordepression.com">depression treatment</a> as soon as possible. If you delay, you will only make things worse. So stop thinking, and start taking action on it!

There can be some debate about the proper depression treatment today. Some people mistakenly think that depression is all in your head and don't realize that there actually is a physical reason for one's depression and that the brain is not regulating chemicals properly, causing this condition.

Still others think that depression is just a case of the blues and assume that exercise and proper eating can cure it. In reality, getting the right depression treatment is imperative for anyone that suffers from this disease as ignoring it or dismissing it can have tragic consequences.

Doctors now believe that the right treatment for depression contains medication and therapies too. Therapies are needed because depression is due to a physical problem in the brain and so it does affect a person's thinking ability. Therapies help the person to think in different ways.

You might liken this to physical therapy when you have a knee injury - you need to address the injury itself but you may also need to re-learn how to walk properly as well. Using group therapy or individual therapy as part of depression treatment is important; medications and pills will help with the condition but rarely just make it go away.

This might be a lack of self-esteem, or problems that result from an abusive childhood, or something close to post-traumatic stress syndrome, or something else. There are many problems for which people end up in depression but the doctor has to learn and pinpoint on the actual depressed thought of a person. This will help the patient to get the proper therapy along with the medication.

Doctors direct the patient with such a treatment that the patient isolates the thoughts that cause their low self-esteem and give them healthier thoughts with which to replace them.

When it comes to an issue such as child abuse, a doctor may recommend some new ways of dealing with and interacting with one's parents. It's surprising how many survivors of child abuse feel guilty about the treatment, as if they brought it on themselves somehow!

They often still have close ties to their parents, not wanting to abandon them even if they were abusive. Doctors skilled in depression treatment can help an adult get away from this thinking and learn new, healthy ways of thinking about themselves and their parents as well.

You need to consult a good physician to get treatment during depression. Nowadays people try to cure depression themselves without going to a doctor by taking vitamins and doing some exercise. This is not only ineffective but also harms the patient.

If you think or have noticed some of the clinical depression symptoms in you then without any delay or hesitation go and consult a doctor. The doctor will provide you with medication which will show effective and improved results.

It's not always about <a href="http://www.mycurefordepression.com/blog/getting-the-right-depression-treatment">how to get the right depression treatment</a> all the time. You need be aware of other <a href="http://www.mycurefordepression.com">natural cures for depression</a> out there as well.

What is The Elgin Mental Health care Center? Suppose if a friend of you or someone in their family is to be treated in a mental care facility, we try to find the best facility for them. After all, the goal is for them to get well, and we believe that our choice of hospital is vital for the person's recovery. In Illinois, when we speak of psychiatric facilities, one hospital easily comes to mind. That is Elgin Mental Health Center or EMHC. As the second oldest state hospital in Illinois, this facility opened in 1872 under its former name, Northern Illinois Hospital and Asylum for the Insane. The first-ever physiological measurements of mental patients were recorded by the Elgin Papers back in the 1890s. By 1997, the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Health care Organizations gave EMHC its commendation for two years in a row.

How the hospital was developed can be broken down into five phases. The first phase ended in 1893. A stable leadership was responsible for the gradual growth during this period. After this phase, the hospital immensely grew to more than twice its size. This second phase, which ended by 1920, was characterized by a lot of politicking, leadership changes and power struggles in the system. For the third period, growth was more rapid. Hospital population, which reached its peak by the 1950s, increased for both geriatric and veterans. This is because the period was post World War I and World War II. By the time the third phase ended, hospital population declined. During this phase, psychotropic medications were introduced. Other milestones for this period include the development of community health facilities, institutionalization, until the decentralization of decision-making and authority. This fourth phase ended until the 1980s.

The last phase is what some call the "rebirth." It began in 1983, when hospital census was at its lowest. Because of this, the hospital was on the verge of closure. However, the state decided to close Manteno Mental Health Center instead. During this time, the hospital was practically rebuilt. While the old buildings used a congregate model called the Kirkbride plan, new physical facilities were added such as cottages in order to adhere to a segregate plan. There are two divisions, civil and forensic. Each division has an acute treatment center, office and conference rooms which faculty and trainees can use. Forensic programs were further developed, and new affiliations with medical schools were also made. Affiliations include that with The Chicago Medical School, among others. An increase in educational activities showed that EMHC is also concerned with the education of future doctors and medical graduates. Hospital system operations were also modified. Activities of community mental health centers are integrated in the system operations. Community mental health centers refer their patients to EMHC. These community mental facilities include DuPage County Health Department, Lake County Mental Health Center, Ecker Center for Mental Health, and Kenneth Young Center.

At present, admissions are close to 1300 annually. Patients are usually African-American, Euro-American and Hispanic. The hospital holds 582 to 600 beds and about 40 full-time physicians. Just like any health facility, EMHC is harassed with problems and controversies with respect to their policies and programs. Nevertheless, Elgin Mental Health Center continues to do what it is supposed to do, and that is to provide the best treatment for their patients.

<b>krishna S</b>, a research analyst for many topics related to Health, Self Improvement, Diseases and Yoga.
Depression is a complex of psychological and physical symptoms. Low mood level or sadness is often the most prominent symptom. The common property of these symptoms is a decreased activity level in parts of the brain.

THE SYMPTOMS OF DEPRESSION

Depression may give one or more of these symptoms:

-Low mood level or sadness.
-Lack of joy or interest in activities that were joyful before.
-Pessimism.
-Feel of guilt of something without any substantial reason to feel so.
-Inferiority thoughts.
-Irritability.
-Slowness in the thought process.
-Slowness in interpreting sensorial stimuli.
-Slowness of digestion or other internal physical processes, and symptoms caused by this slowness, for example inflated stomach, constipation or difficulties by urination.
-Slow physical reactions.

Depression can be a mild disease that only causes some annoyance in the daily life, but can also get very serious and make a person totally unable to work and unable to participate in social life. By depression of some severity, there is also a greater risk of suicide.

Depression can occur in all age classes. In teenager's lack of interest in school work, withdrawal from social life and difficult mood can be signs of depression.

THE PHYSIOLOGICAL CHANGES THAT PRODUCE THE SYMPTOMS

By depression there is a decreased amount of neurotransmitters in parts of the central nervous system, mainly deficiency of serotonin, but also to some extend of noradrenalin, acetylcholine, dopamine or gamma-amino-butyric acid (GABA), or the nerve cells do not react properly by stimulation from neurotransmitters. A neurotransmitter is a signal substance that transmits the nerve signal through the junctions between two nerve cells.

Serotonin and noradrenalin cause nerve cells to send impulses along to other nerve cells, and thus increase the activity in the brain. Deficiency of these substances causes slowness in parts of the brain, and that again causes the depressive symptoms.

The role of GABA is the opposite, namely to slow down some nerve impulses, mainly those causing anxiety and panic response. Lack of GABA causes higher anxiety and easier panic response. Yet, lack of this transmitter also seems to cause depressive symptoms. This is because a too high activity in some brain processes may slow down other processes.

There are many causes and subtypes of depression with different physiological mechanisms involved.

TYPES OF DEPRESSION

Depression is often divided into subtypes according to exhibited symptoms.

1. Mono-polar depression and dysthymic disorder

By mono-polar depression there are pure depressive symptoms. Mild cases of mono-polar disorder that do not affect a person's ability to work and to participate in social activities are often called dysthymic disorder.

2. Bipolar disorder (manic-depressive disease) and cyclothymic disorder

In this condition there are periods with symptoms of depression - the depressive phase, alternating with periods of elevated mood level with increased mental and physical activity - the manic phase. In the manic phase, the affected person also sleeps poorly and has concentration difficulties. A mild form of this disease is called cyclothymic disorder.

3. Manic disorder

This condition is characterized by abnormally elevated mood, by unrealistic optimism, by lack of sleep and by hyperactive behaviour. Many psychiatrists think that this disorder is simply the same disease as bipolar disorder where the depressive face has not yet occurred.

4. Depression with mainly physical symptoms

Sometimes the physical symptoms of depression are alone or dominant, as for example: Digestive problems, constipation, difficulties with urination, slow response to sensorial stimuli or slow physical reactions.

CAUSES OF DEPRESSION

Two or more factors can have an effect simultaneously to cause depression. Depression can be an independent disease, or a part of another disease. Depression is also divided into different subtypes according to cause.

1. Reactive depression

This disease is simply a result from psychological stress, physical struggle or mental straining without proper rest or sleep over a long time period. The straining will simply wear out the nervous system or deplete the organism from nutrient necessary for the nervous system to work properly.

2. Endogenous depression

When there has not been any period of stress, straining or lack of rest that can explain the condition, the condition is often called endogenous depression. Inheritance is thought to be a part of the cause.

3. Depression by physical disease

Depression or depressive symptoms may be a symptom of physical disease. This is perhaps the most common cause of depression.

Diseases often associated with depression are: Heart disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, hypertension or Cushing's syndrome.

Mononucleosis or flu may trigger depression that continues after the infection has gone.

By lack of thyroid hormones, hypothyroidism, the metabolism in the whole body is slowed down, including the production of neurotransmitters in the brain. Therefore depression is an important symptom of hypothyroidism.

4. Depressive symptoms as a consequence of unsound lifestyle

A general unsound lifestyle with too less exercise, too high consunsume of alcohol, coffee or tea, too less of important nutrient and too much of sugar and fat may give depressive symptoms, as well as physical problems.

5. Postnatal depression

Women will often have a period of depression after pregnancy and birth of the baby Pregnancy and berth is physically and mentally exhausting, and may drain the body for nutrient. This in turn can cause depressive symptoms
.

6. Seasonal affective disorder

Depression can occur in cold and dark periods of the year and go away in warm and light periods. Light stimulates brain activity, and lack of light is a causative factor.

TREATMENT OF DEPRESSION

Serious or prolonged depression is often treated with anti-depressive medication. Medicines used against depression generally increase the level of neurotransmitters like serotonin in the central nervous system, or they mimic the neurotransmitters.

The medications mostly used today increase the serotonin concentration by decreasing the removal of serotonin from the space around nerve cells. Examples of this medication type are: Fluoxetine (Prozac), fluvoxamine (Luvox), paroxetine (Paxil), escitalopram (Lexapro, Celexa), sentraline (zoloft).

By bipolar disorder in the manic face, heavy tranquilizers (neuroleptica) are used to stop the manic symptoms. By bipolar disorder, lithium salts are sometimes used to stabilize the condition, and prevent new outbreak of depressive or manic faces.

Psychotherapy is sometimes used by depression, usually in combination with medication.

Sometimes serious depression is treated by applying electric shock through the head, electroconvulsive therapy. The shock induces epileptic eruption of nerve signals through the brain and this gives cramps throughout the body. The cramps are alleviated or stopped by applying anaesthesia before the electroshock. This form of treatment is controversial, since it can cause memory loss and is suspected of causing brain damage. The possibility of brain damage is however denied by most psychiatrists.

By seasonal depression, light therapy maybe useful.

Adjustment of lifestyle should always be considered by depression or depressive symptoms. Lifestyle measures can sometimes be enough to cure depressive symptoms before a serious depression develop. Lifestyle adjustments can be:

- To slow down a stressful life with too much work or activities.
- Enough rest and sleep.
- A good diet with enough of necessary nutrients.
- Some physical exercise.
- Meditation.
- Supplement of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, lecithin, amino acids and essential fatty acids.
- Stimulants like coffee or tea may help against depressive feelings in moderate amount. However, if you are a heavy user of these stimulants, you should cut down on your consumption.

There exist nutritional products in the marked to help against depressive symptoms. These contain ingredients that the brain uses as building blocks for neurotransmitters, for example amino acids and lecithin. They also often contain vitamins and minerals that the brain uses as tools to produce neurotransmitters, especially vitamin B6.

Supplements may further contain herbal extracts that trigger higher brain activity much like anti-depressive medications, but may have fewer side effects.

Knut Holt is an internet consultant and marketer focusing on health items.
Dream interpretation didn't have a crucial importance for everyone until my discoveries, after I continued the research abandoned by the psychiatrist Carl Jung. Even the various psychologists and psychiatrists that use dream interpretation in order to cure their patients, don't consider their dreams as the basic source of information about their psychical condition.

Jung gave them basic importance and this is why he could discover the unique exact way to translate the meaning of many basic dream symbols, common to humanity in general, because they appear in everyone's dreams, in all civilizations and in all historical times. He denominated them as archetypes. For more details visit to www.joint-venture-guide.com .His work was extraordinary! He managed to really capture the hidden meaning existent in the dream language!

Until today humanity didn't recognize the importance of his discoveries. He deserved a Nobel Prize!

I intended to prove this fact to the world with my book, not only exposing my dreams and my biography to the public in order to really show everyone the relation which exists between the dreamer's life and his or her dreams, as well as relating many scientific discoveries in many different scientific fields that confirmed everything affirmed by Jung: however, my book took another direction in the end.

Even though I only had the intention to prove to the world that he was right, when I arrived at the point where I had to write my personal conclusions about everything I had written, I faced a very big dilemma, because I had to disagree with Carl Jung on 3 basic points.

1 - He concluded that a person must stay far from the research of the content of their psyche, unless they feel this necessity.

I concluded that everyone must indispensably learn how to translate their dreams the soonest possible.

2- He concluded that the unconscious mind that produces our dreams is a good counselor for our conscience, but that we have to make our decisions based on our own conscience.

I concluded that the human conscience is crazy and that there is an even crazier content in the wild side of the human conscience, therefore we must obey to the directions of the wise and saintly unconscious mind that produces our dreams in order to save us from craziness, despair and suicidal thoughts.

3- Jung concluded that the absence of the characterization of something as good or bad could be the ideal solution for the human being, accepting the idea of the existence of a moral beyond what is good and what is bad.

I concluded that goodness and evilness cannot coexist because what is evil destroys what is good, and that the human being must be loyal to his moral principles in order to save his human conscience from the craziness that the wild side is constantly trying to impose to the human side.

Carl Jung stopped his research at a certain point, afraid of craziness, since he knew that it exists a priori in the human brain and psyche, as he could observe examining the dreams and the words used by many patients that suffered from grave mental illnesses in their speech.

His attitude was correct. He really had to stop, because he was not prepared to face the craziness he would discover if he would continue his research in the unknown region of the psyche through dream interpretation as I did.

I'm a writer, and I have been studying human logic since I was a child, especially because my father is schizophrenic.

I have a great literary talent, and when I learned how to interpret my dreams according to Jung's method, I observed in my own literature the existence of many archetypes.

When I was 15 years old I suffered a terrible car accident, losing my memory and the coordination of my movements for a long time. The friend who was next to me in the car died instantly in the crash.

After this tragic accident I started writing a book about a beggar who was revolted with humanity and wanted to put an end to the invisible war existent among all human beings, besides putting an end to hunger and poverty. To know more logon to www.jointwebventures.com .Examining the archetypes existent in this book, which I finished only 6 and half years later, I discovered the meaning of many symbols that Jung could not understand.

If you want to learn also how to avoid tragic accidents, besides diseases and all mental illnesses, start studying dream translation with my method, derived from Carl Jung's method of course, since he really discovered the code for the accurate translation of the most important dream symbols.

Don't worry, because my method is very simple, while his method was too complicated. He was a beginner, and he ignored what exists in the bottom of the human psyche...

Prevent Depression and Craziness through the scientific method of Dream Interpretation discovered by Carl Jung and simplified by Christina Sonia's, a writer who continued Jung's research in the unknown region of the human psychic sphere.

<a href="http://www.dream-revealed.com">www.dream-revealed.com</a>

A lot of people believe that taking antidepressants is the answer to such feelings of depression, stress, and anxiety. In some parts, mental health professionals are to blame for the wrong notion. This is mainly because some doctors automatically prescribe popular anti-depression medications such as Prozac, Fluoxetine, and similar brands whenever people go in for consultations regarding feelings of depression, anxiousness, and stress.

But what people need to understand is that there are things to consider before they start taking such medication. Here are the most important ones:

Do you really need it?
Do you really need to take antidepressants or can you handle the negative emotions naturally. Is it just a passing moment of feeling blue? Or is it actual clinical depression? You need to be able to discern which one of the two is it that you're currently feeling. A trip to your trusted psychologist may help you discern where this is just a passing emotion or something that needs further diagnosis and evaluation.

Is it safe for you to take it?
You have to understand that even if you do want to take the medicine, there are certain physical conditions that may stop you from taking antidepressants. People with seizures, heart diseases, liver or kidney impairments are discouraged to take such medications. You need to be aware of your physical health condition before taking such anti-depression medications.

Are you ready for the side effects?
Just like taking any prescription-grade medicine, taking antidepressants come with not-so pleasant side effects. However, if your doctor thinks you need the medication, you need to ask yourself whether you're ready and healthy enough to endure that side effects that could appear once you've started taking the antidepressants.

With all the news we hear about people misusing and accidentally killing themselves on antidepressants that they shouldn't be using in the first place, it's a great idea to keep this three important considerations in mind before jumping the gun and taking antidepressants at the first hint of the blues.

Mark Walters is a part-time writer and a part-time researcher.
There are many varied types of depression. Without realizing it or accepting it, many Americans suffer from some sort of depression. It is estimated that some 14 million Americans are affected by depression. Fewer than 4.7 million of those, about 1/3, will seek medical help. What are the reasons? Perhaps it is because depression is classified as a mental illness. That label is one people tend to avoid. People who suffered from mental illness were, at one time in history, ridiculed by society. In many cases those with slight signs of depression were locked away in state institutions for the mentally ill. The good news is things have become different. However, old stereotypes have not. This influences many Americans to keep their illness to themselves.

Many factors contribute to depression. It isn't easy to diagnose. Chemical balance in the brain, DNA, biology and even environment have to be considered. Drug abusers and alcoholics can develop depression, but so can people just dealing with every day life situations and stress. These elements and more can lead to depression. Are there treatments for sufferers? There are many options for treatment and even cure, just as there are many causes for depression. It comes down to a case by case consideration as to which options are best for someone who suffers depression.

Many claim they have a cure for depression. Methods of treatment that are safe and that work to cure depression do exist. A doctor looks at a number of factors to determine which combination of options to apply. Is the treatment proven clinically to be effective for depression? If it is medication, herbal or prescription, does it have the proven amount of ingredients to induce a positive result? Have high quality control standards been used when accepting the method? It's time to take a look at some of the more accepted cures.

To treat many forms of depression doctors have typically prescribed a combination of drugs and psychotherapy. SSRI, or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, are prescribed to treat depression. In 1988 Prozac was first used and today it is one of the most popular. Drugs like Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro, Celexa, and Luvox as well as others are also used. Case history shows all of these to be effective. But side effects are common, including causing more depression. That is why natural cures are becoming so popular today. St Johns Wort extract is one herbal cure gaining popularity quickly. To be effective it must contain around 3-5% hyperforin. It's success rate is similar to that of Prozac but with fewer side effects. If those who have the disease don't seek treatment, a cure does no good. If you think you have depression, or if someone you know shows the signs, visit a doctor.

Chokyi Ooi runs a Depression information site and hopes this site is helpful to those suffered from depression.
For the longest time, people with severe depression have proven resistant to tried-and-tested treatment methods, like taking antidepressants (Prozac, Wellbutrin, etc.) and psychotherapy, to manage and treat their condition. Early last year, the U.S. FDA approved of the use of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) implants for the treatment of non-treatment responsive depression. VNS implants is a treatment used for epilepsy patients and is implanted by means of invasive surgery.

But now, the government has approved of the first non-invasive brain stimulator that helps treat treatment-resistant depression. This new treatment is called the transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). It beams magnetic pulses through the skull, triggering small electrical charges to spark brain cells back to life.

This is quite a convenient alternative as opposed to undergoing invasive surgery or painful shock therapy. It is important for people with depression to know that this treatment is not for everyone. The FDA approved Neuronetics Inc.'s Neurostar therapy specifically for sufferers who've had to no relief from their first antidepressants. This also helps depression sufferers avoid the hassles of trying pill after pill.

With statistics showing that one out of five people with depression is non-responsive to treatment, this is why there is a need for innovative approaches to treating the disease. And the TMS is offering just that.

Creators of the TMS device explain that for depression treatment, the magnet is aimed at the front left portion of the head, directly atop the prefrontal cortex. Because every individual's brain is different, measures need to be taken to make sure that the magnet is aimed at the right place. An initial zap is done at the top of the head to find the motor-control region. Once they're able to locate it, they move five centimeters forward and start beaming 3,000 pulses per minute (ppm) for 40 minutes. The treatment is done five times a week over a course of six weeks.

The creators of the device believes that by stimulating cells in the prefrontal cortex, a chain reaction can be triggered to stimulate deeper brain regions that are primarily responsible for mood regulation.

Tests have proven that this new breakthrough is very safe. People who have tried the device didn't suffer from seizures or memory problems unlike in shock therapy; the only complaint was of headaches. After the tests were done, 24% of the test subjects who got TMS treatment scored significantly better on a standard depression chart after six weeks, compared to 12% who got placebo treatment.

This new treatment is proving to be very promising; however, the FDA highly emphasizes that this is only for people who have failed responding to their first antidepressant. The TMS therapy is not for people who are severely treatment-resistant.

Mark Walters is a part-time writer and a part-time researcher.
Financial crises tend to put a damper on everyone's plans, so the current crisis is not really presenting a great surprise in terms of effects on the general population. For those who study financial decision-making processes and long-term human behavior, this is hardly anything to be worth acting surprised over. As with things like love and sex, individuals are the ones making decisions regarding financial moves and markets, which means that corporations and governments are making decisions that are fundamentally more emotional than logical, and sometimes tend toward more irrational moves. Since economies tend to be cyclical in nature, the occasional meltdown is inevitable, according to experts.

The problem with assuming that economics and strategies will work properly is that people are assuming that economics follows rationality. The harsh reality is that it does not. Humans are the ones making the decisions, and there are numerous biological and psychological factors that can affect even the most efficient, rational decision making process. While medical science has been well aware of this problem and has years of experience in realizing that things like depression and anxiety will affect even the most logical of thinkers, economists have been slow to grasp that reality. This, according to some researchers, is because economic theories and models are based on how people ‘should' behave, as opposed to how they actually would behave. They simply fail to realize that there are numerous factors that can have detrimental effect on one's ability to be rational.

For example, higher testosterone levels are known for making men more aggressive on various levels. For men with higher levels of that hormone, it was found that they were more likely to take huge financial risks — the kind that could leave them bankrupt, with not a whole lot of return for their investments. In contrast, people who are experiencing depression might see a potentially good opportunity as being a little too dangerous to handle,

According to medical science, it isn't just psychology and biology that play a role in the decisions that led the world into the current economic rut it's in. Human beings are inevitably capable of learning from evidence or experience — its part of how the brain works. Behavior and decision-making are also linked to how people learn, but there is a catch. The older the experiences are, the less likely that the person will remember them, or what they managed to learn from those experience. This applies even to the population at large, as some experts point out.

Recent economic trends have shown the stock market being strong and moving upwards almost constantly, though there have been times when things tended to level out. This has given people the impression that the stock market is on an upward swing, and is not going to crash. However, an analysis of history will show that the reality is that the stock market can crash, and it usually does crash every few decades or so. This information, while it might be of critical importance for those in financial markets, tends to be forgotten when everything current says "things are looking up."

Mark Walters is a part-time writer and a part-time researcher.
With all the disclosures about funding received from the drug companies by "unbiased" research teams at major universities, it is not surprising that many of these studies have determined that a drug produced by the funding drug company is "beneficial," but none of them cure the actual cause. Of course, these studies also pointed out the serious side effects of most of these drugs, while also concluding that the drug manufactured by the drug company paying for the research was worth the risk.

However, there is still research being done into treating not the symptoms but the actual cause of illness or body malfunction. Often this research has been sponsored by the United Nations which is addressing problems in countries where the funds are not available to buy high-priced drugs that really only treat symptoms and cause many other side effects. Zinc deficiency has been investigated for many years, but as the need to find a cure for many conditions and symptoms is being demanded by more patients, many more studies are being done. In this newsletter we will discuss zinc and zinc deficiency.

ZINC

Ancient Egyptian texts advocate the use of zinc, and it has continued to be recommended for help in the treatment of a number of diseases and conditions. Zinc is one of 14 essential minerals that are considered necessary for the proper function of the body. The essential minerals are:

•	Calcium
•	Chromium
•	Copper
•	Fluorine
•	Iodine
•	Iron
•	Magnesium
•	Manganese
•	Molybdenum
•	Phosphorus
•	Potassium
•	Selenium
•	Sodium
•	Zinc

Scientists have shown that zinc stimulates the activity of at least 100 enzymes--substances that promote reactions in our body-- and many scientists say that the number of enzymes may be as high as 300. Some medical researchers believe that zinc acts as a neurotransmitter and if zinc levels are too low, this could be a cause of abnormal behavior.

CONDITIONS LINKED TO ZINC DEFICIENCY

ADHD & ADD

Many parents have felt that tightening of their stomach when they received the call from their children's school telling them that their child had ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) or ADD (attention deficit disorder). The normal solution from the school is not to have the child taken to a doctor and tested for any physical problems but to put them on a drug that is chemically similar to cocaine.

Many doctors have shown that children presenting the supposed symptoms of ADHD or ADD were actually suffering from real physical problems. Sometimes these children simply required a diet change because they were allergic to certain foods. Sometimes they were just ingesting too much sugar. Other times they were found to have thyroid problems or other medical problems.

Other children have had problems with zinc or other essential metals. Once treated effectively, the cause of the symptoms was no longer present and the symptoms of ADHD and ADD were gone—all without using these dangerous drugs.

"Zinc deficiency mimics symptoms of ADHD," said Dr. L. Eugene Arnold, a child psychiatrist at Ohio State's Nisonger Center." He continued, "Preliminary work suggests the ADHD population may have a higher prevalence of marginal zinc deficiency."

Zinc Deficiency In Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder was published in Biological Psychiatry in1996. 43 children aged between 6 and 16 years of age (average age 10) who had been labeled as having ADHD were compared with 28 other non-ADHD labeled children who were matched for age and sex.

The study found that zinc levels in the ADHD group were significantly lower than in the non-ADHD labeled group. The authors concluded, "Zinc is an essential co-factor in a huge number of different processes in the brain and body. With respect to ADHD symptoms, the authors point out that zinc deficiencies have been linked to a 'hyperadrenal' syndrome (overworked adrenals) and also with reduced production of melatonin and serotonin, either of which could plausibly contribute to the kinds of behavioral disturbances found in ADHD."

Instead of meekly agreeing to give your child Ritalin or Adderall, insist that you be allowed to have your child examined by a competent medical doctor who is looking for the cause of your child's symptoms—if there really is a problem. One of the things that the doctor should investigate is whether there is a zinc or other metal deficiency.

DEPRESSION

The drug company labels for antidepressants admit that they are not sure how these drugs actually work. Unlike other medical conditions, there are no medical tests to determine if someone has a deficiency in the chemicals that the antidepressants are intended to increase. In addition, as we demonstrated in last week's newsletter, many of the symptoms of depression are identical to the symptoms of a low thyroid condition.

However, more researchers are concluding that there is a strong link between zinc deficiency and depression. A recent paper by N.M. Tassabehji, R.S. Corniola, A. Alshingiti, and C.W. Levenson for the Department of Nutrition, Food & Exercise Sciences at Florida State University stated, "There is mounting evidence suggesting a link between serum zinc levels and clinical depression." (Serum is the clear watery fluid that separates from clotted blood.)
In an article entitled The Adverse Effects Of Zinc Deficiency by Tuula E. Tuormaa that was published in the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine, in1995, (orthomolecular refers to a holistic approach to medicine that attempts to treat the body with natural substances) Tuormaa summarized the results of many medical studies on the effects of zinc deficiency and "mental" problems.

The following are some of the conclusions of the studies cited by Tuormaa:

•	A variety of mental and behavioral changes have also been associated with zinc deficiency in humans, including apathy, lethargy, amnesia, irritability, depression and paranoia, as well as mental retardation. (A.S. Prasad, P. Rabbani, A. Abbash: Experimental zinc deficiency in humans. Annals of Internal Medicine)
•	Low zinc levels were found in 112 acute psychiatric patients. (D. Sprinivasan, S. Marr, R. Wareign, et al: Magnesium, zinc and copper in acute psychiatric patients. Magnesium Bulletin, published in 1982.
•	In children, zinc deficiency has been associated with mental retardation (D. Dantford, J. Smith, A. Huber: Pica and Mineral Status in the Mentally Retarded. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published in 1982.)
•	Heavy metal toxicity, drug intoxication, hypothyroidism, cerebral (brain) allergy, wheat-gluten sensitivity, hypoglycemia, folic acid/vitamin B12 deficiency can produce symptoms known as schizophrenia. (C. C. Pfeiffer and S. LaMola: Zinc and Manganese in the Schizophrenias. Journal of Orthomolecular Psychiatry published in1983.)

In an article entitled Zinc Deficiency, Metal Metabolism, And Behavior Disorders written by William Walsh and published by the Health Research Institute, Walsh states, "Many of the patients of the Carl Pfeiffer Treatment Center suffer from behavior disorders. The most common ones are attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and conduct disorder (CD). These patients typically have a history of extensive counseling and multiple medications and many have experienced residential care."

Walsh continues, "A high percentage of behavior disordered persons exhibit abnormal levels of copper, zinc, lead, cadmium, calcium, magnesium and manganese in blood, urine, and tissues, based on chemical analysis results from thousands of patients:Most of these patients have symptoms of zinc deficiency along with depressed levels of zinc in their blood plasma."

One of the most frightening side effects of antidepressants is violence. Walsh refers to a study of more than 4,000 behavior patients and concluded that lower levels of zinc increased violence in males. (W.J. Walsh, H.R. Isaacson, F. Rahman, A. Hall, and I.J. Young, "Elevated blood copper:zinc ratios in assaultive young males", Neuroscience Annual Meeting, Abstract of Papers, Miami Beach, 1994.)

Walsh concludes, "We find that zinc deficient individuals usually respond well to inexpensive supplementation with zinc and augmenting nutrients. Many patients who previously experienced years of counseling, psychotherapy, aggressive medication programs, and/or residential treatment become greatly improved and respond to less intensive (and less expensive) therapies. Zinc deficiency can be corrected, but not cured. If treatment is discontinued, the prior zinc deficiency will reemerge with all symptoms gradually returning. Zinc deficiency, like diabetes, requires life long treatment. Fortunately, it is a simple, low cost, safe treatment."

In light of the studies cited above and the countless more cited in previous newsletters and on the web, how can anyone blindly take an antidepressant or antipsychotic drug without first determining that they are not zinc deficient? Is it not negligence if a doctor prescribes one of these drugs without first ascertaining if there is a physical cause?

OTHER DISEASES RELATED TO ZINC DEFECIENCY

There are a number of other diseases or conditions that have been associated with zinc deficiency. Some of these are:

•	Skin conditions like eczema, acne, and/or psoriasis
•	Slow wound healing
•	Leg ulcers
•	Growth retardation
•	Frequent infections (zinc is required for the development and activation of a white blood cell that helps fight infection.)
•	Problems during pregnancy
•	Lactation problems after pregnancy
•	Vision problems—particularly with older people

HOW DO WE GET ZINC IN OUR BODY?

Our body gets zinc from supplements we take and from the food we eat. While most of us get the majority of our zinc from eating red meat and poultry, zinc is found In many foods. Oysters, beans, nuts, whole grains and dairy products all contain zinc. However, some studies have concluded that vegetarians should be especially attentive to zinc deficiency because it is likely that they are not getting sufficient zinc.

CAN WE HAVE TOO MUCH ZINC?

As we all know, our DNA and metabolism are each different. Too much zinc for one of us is too little for another. While many recommend that adults consume 11 milligrams per day, this may or may not be enough for everyone. For example, if someone is taking iron for anemia, this may be reducing the body's ability to absorb zinc.

However, there have been many cases of zinc toxicity. If we absorb more zinc that we need, then we can have health problems. This is why it is important that a person not try to self-medicate and just start taking more zinc.

HOW CAN WE TEST FOR THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ZINC?

The simple answer is that it is complicated. There is no single laboratory test that is always accurate. Zinc serum levels may appear normal but may not be in fact. Some practitioners use urine and hair tests but these can also be misleading. Most doctors generally use several different tests and also look to see if some of the symptoms of zinc deficiency are reduced if given zinc supplements. There are more tests being developed and, in combination and in the hands of a good doctor, can provide indications of zinc deficiency and the proper means to correct the problem.

CONCLUSION

Sometimes it seems that most of us don't want a simple solution. Much of this information about zinc has been known for decades. Yet, the marketing power of the drug companies drowns out common sense approaches.

How many of us have learned the hard way that when an electronic device is reported to not be working, that we check to see if it is plugged in or if the batteries have been removed or gone bad? Few things are more embarrassing than calling a repairman who finally arrives and politely informs us that it was a breaker switch or the device was not plugged in firmly.

As we tell our patients who arrive at Novus for drug detox from OxyContin, oxycodone, Vicodin, methadone, heroin, alcohol, antidepressants, benzodiazepines like Xanax, or for prescription drug addiction detox, they need to go for further treatment after they complete their detox program. If it is someone who is addicted, then they should go to a rehab facility and then go to a medical doctor who will do a thorough physical exam and look for the real physical cause. If it is someone who is just dependent, then they should go directly to the medical doctor.

None of our problems can be solved by treating only the symptoms. Just like no amount of working on an unplugged television will overcome the problem of it not being plugged into an electrical outlet, we need to confront this and decide that if we really want to handle our problems we have to find the real cause.

Steven L. Hayes is Director of Novus Medical Detox Center in Pasco County, FL, 45 minutes north of Tampa (http://www.novusdetox.com). Steven hopes to become part of the solution for the millions of people who have become addicted to or dependent on prescription drugs; by educating them and their doctors; by insisting that pharmaceutical companies do honest, open and scientifically sound testing; and by providing a facility for medical detox that is comfortable, private and caring.

INFORMATION ON DEPRESSION

One of the most misused terms in use today is "depression." Many symptoms are attributed to the general category of depression. The National Institute of Mental Health has set forth these symptoms of depression:

•	Ongoing sad, anxious or empty feelings
•	Feelings of hopelessness
•	Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or helplessness
•	Feeling irritable or restless
•	Loss of interest in activities or hobbies that were once enjoyable, including sex
•	Feeling tired all the time
•	Difficulty concentrating, remembering details, or difficulty making decisions
•	Not able to go to sleep or stay asleep (insomnia); may wake in the middle of the night or sleep all the time
•	Overeating or loss of appetite
•	Thoughts of suicide or making suicide attempts
•	Ongoing aches and pains, headaches, cramps or digestive problems that do not go away.

All of us have probably experienced one or more of the symptoms listed above. However, most of us have overcome these feelings on our own, either through lifestyle changes or eating better or exercising more, or just letting some time pass. Others seem to be unable to overcome these symptoms and they start adversely affecting their lives.

THEORIES OF THE CAUSES OF DEPRESSION

CHEMICAL IMBALANCE IN THE BRAIN

Most drug companies and most psychiatrists propose that the cause of depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain—a physical cause. While the antidepressant labels state they don't know exactly how their drugs work, they promote that their drugs are thought to increase the amount of these chemicals in the brain.

Of course, the problem with this theory is that there are presently no medical tests to determine the amount of any chemical needed in the brain or even the amount of the chemicals that are there at any one time. This is probably why a recent comprehensive study of anti-depressant drugs found that they were no more effective than placebos (sugar pills).

MEDICAL CAUSE

Another theory of the causes of depression symptoms is that, if there is no organic damage to the brain—like that caused by an accident or surgery---the cause is most often related to an actual medical illness or physical problem that, if corrected, will eliminate the symptoms.

The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (doctors who study glands and hormones) stated, "The diagnosis of subclinical (without obvious signs) or clinical hypothyroidism (low thyroid activity) must be considered in every patient with depression."

In 1994, "Clinical Practice Guidelines For the Evaluation and Treatment of Hyperthyroidism and Hypothyroidism Developed by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American College of Endocrinology" were released, advising doctors that patients with hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid) and hyperthyroidism (over-active thyroid) could present (appear to have) the following:

•	Fatigue
•	Weight gain
•	Weight loss
•	Memory and mental impairment
•	Decreased concentration
•	Depression
•	Nervousness and irritability
•	Heat intolerance/increased sweating
•	Tremors
•	Mental disturbances
•	Sleep disturbances including insomnia

If you compare this list of symptoms with the list of depression symptoms, you will see many are the same.

HOW COMMON ARE THYROID PROBLEMS?

A study reported in the February 28, 2000 issue of Archive of Internal Medicine revealed that of more than 25,000 people given blood tests, 9.9% had thyroid problems they probably did not know about. Another 5.9% were being treated for thyroid problems. This means nearly 16% of the population in the study had thyroid dysfunction.

Dr. Broda Barnes, author of Hypothyroidism: The Unsuspected Illness, estimated that as many as 40% of the public may have low thyroid function, much of which is not detectable by modern blood tests. He recommended a simple and more reliable body temperature test.

Dr. Barnes' thyroid self-test, discussed in his book, is as follows: "You take an old-fashioned mercury-type thermometer, shake it down and put it on the nightstand before going to bed (if you're going to do it on yourself - or someone else just shake it down below 95 degrees before you take the temperature). In the morning on awakening, before arising or moving around, the person puts the thermometer snugly in his armpit for 10 minutes by the clock. If the temperature is below 97.8, the person likely needs thyroid supplementation or, if they're on a thyroid supplement already, they need more. The temperature should be between 97.8-98.2."

In an article entitled Depression and Physical Illness, Dr. Alan Thomas, a psychiatrist and lecturer, said, "Mood changes and depressive illnesses are more common in people suffering from physical illnesses than in people who are well: There is good evidence that some of the above illnesses directly affect the parts of the brain and the chemical systems that control our mood and behavior. For example, vascular diseases (those affecting the blood vessels) and Parkinson's disease damage important areas of the brain, making people vulnerable to depression... Endocrine conditions directly interact with, and upset, important chemical systems governing mood and other features of depressive illness."

HORMONES

It is widely reported that women experience depression about twice as often as men. As we have seen at Novus, many of our female patients who came to us for a drug detox left Novus and went to see a holistic doctor who determined that there were hormone imbalances and, once treated, their depression and anxiety disappeared.

A study by the National Institute for Mental Health showed that some women who had severe pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS) experienced relief when a hormone imbalance was corrected. These hormonal imbalances may explain why some women feel postpartum depression after they give birth.

There is also increasing evidence that hormonal imbalances may be responsible for feelings of depression in men.

OTHER COMMON PHYSICAL PROBLEMS LINKED TO DEPRESSION

There are a number of medical doctors who are finding that treating the following conditions will often result in the reduction or elimination of depression symptoms:

•	Nutritional deficiencies
•	Lack of exercise
•	Fibromyalgia
•	Candida (yeast infection)
•	Poor adrenal function
•	Hypoglycemia (unusually low blood sugar)
•	Food Allergies
•	Heavy metals (such as mercury, lead, aluminum, cadmium, and thallium)
•	Selenium toxicity
•	Heart problems
•	Lung disease
•	Diabetes
•	Multiple sclerosis
•	Rheumatoid arthritis
•	Chronic pain
•	Chronic inflammation
•	Cancer
•	Brain tumors
•	Head injuries
•	Parkinson's disease
•	Liver disease
•	Drug side effects

CONCLUSION ABOUT DEPRESSION

Another reason to look for the medical cause is that there is increasing evidence that in addition to their side effects, antidepressants don't work. As two articles in the March 23, 2006, New England Journal of Medicine point out, 70 percent of people taking antidepressants are still depressed.

One article describes a study of 565 subjects who took the antidepressant Celexa for 12 weeks and were still depressed. The researchers continued to give the subjects Celexa but added another antidepressant. The result—70 percent of the subjects now taking two dangerous antidepressants were still depressed.

The second article discusses a study where 727 subjects who were taking Celexa and were still depressed. The subjects were divided into groups and one group was given Wellbutrin SR, another Cymbalta, and another Effexor XR. These results were even worse than the first study because at the end of the trial, 75 percent of the subjects were still depressed.

Dr. Randall Stafford, professor of medicine at Stanford University, co-wrote an article entitled "What Are the Public Health Effects of Direct-to-Consumer Drug Advertising?" The placebo effect is discussed and the authors concluded, "The effect is profound: about one-third of patients report relief from postoperative pain, cough, headache, depression, and other conditions when given a placebo."

Even more damning is the February, 2008 study released by researchers at the University of Hull, in the United Kingdom. This study concluded that compared with placebo, the new-generation antidepressants do not produce clinically significant improvements in depression. Because of all the side effects of antidepressants, this makes their use even more suspect and dangerous.

What does all this tell us? There is no one test to conclusively determine the cause of depression. However, we know that there are medical tests that, if properly and thoroughly done, will eliminate many of the symptoms of depression. It is logical to look for physical causes before taking any type of drug, particularly since the antidepressants and antipsychotics have so many dangerous side effects and there are rising doubts that they work for most people better than placebos.

CONCLUSION

Some of us have not been blessed with the best of health and many of have had physical problems that caused us to exhibit some of the signs of depression listed above. However, many symptoms of depression don't require an antidepressant to treat the symptoms but instead a good medical exam to find the actual cause.

Once we find and handle the actual cause, life changes and we will be able to enjoy the benefits of this Irish blessing:

May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks,
May your heart be as light as a song,
May each day bring you bright, happy hours,
That stay with you all the year long.

I know that some people think that the idea of seasonal depression is just plain crazy. However, there are some very real cases that lead us to believe that the weather can have a tremendous affect on a person's mood.

The thinking used to be that a change in the weather can't really make a person depressed or that anyone who feels this way just needs to get a grip on their emotions and snap out of it. Afterall, in any given area we all deal with the same weather as our neighbors, so how can some actually suffer from seasonal depression when others are unaffected even through the coldest darkest of winters? There are a few reasons why some people may get this disorder when others remain un affected, and fortunately, there are some things that any person suffering with seasonal affective disorder (SAD) can do to deal with it.

What Causes Seasonal Depression?

Humans are living breathing creatures and react to sunlight just as much as plants and animals do; we may not exactly wither in the shade, but we still need sunlight. For instance, someone that isn't exposed to natural light on a regular basis can suffer from rickets and other diseases. So to say that a lack of natural light having an affect on your mood is all in the head just doesn't hold up under scientific scrutiny.

If lack of sunlight affects you physically of course it can affect you emotionally. I would go so far as to say that because it affects you emotionally that it will eventually affect you physically. A lack of sunlight during wintertime can cause seasonal depression in those that are more sensitive to this condition. With our culture of early commutes in the dark to work and then into artificially lit cubical during the day only to leave the office or plant at 5 o'clock with less than an hour of daylight left, it's easy to see how little light many of us get in the winter.

It's also true that some people just don't like outdoor sports or exercise during the winter such as skiing or snowboarding or even running and walking, so they are getting much less natural light than those that exercise on a regular basis. Others simply may be more sensitive to the cold, such as people with poor circulation. This of course leads to them wanting to stay indoors more often, contributing to their seasonal depression.

Cabin fever can also contribute to seasonal depression. When you are locked up in the house all the time because roads are covered in snow and ice, it's easy to feel frustrated, irritated, bored, and trapped. These can easily lead to cases of seasonal affective disorder and, if left untreated, into clinical depression.

Treating Seasonal Depression

We can't magically wish winter away nor would most people want too. Most can't take off for several months at a time to go sit on a beach soak in the natural light and make ourselves feel better. But there are some things that you can do when winter blows in to treat seasonal depression.

First, getting outside as much as possible is important. Even if all you do is go outside to clear the walk or just stand on the porch for a few minutes, this can help. Perhaps instead of hitting the cafeteria in your building walk around the block for some fresh air or a new lunch spot. You don't have to be in direct sunlight just natural light so being out side during the day is going to be helpful.

Second, try to do some type of out door exercise. If you're not one much for winter sports, remember you can play in the snow with your children or just walk up and down the sidewalk to be outside. Regular exercise is also important as exercise always helps to alleviate one's mood.

Third, changing your light bulbs to the type that mimic natural light can be effective for keeping seasonal depression at bay. Keep your environment as bright as possible for as long as possible; avoid turning down your lamps until it's nighttime. Likewise, turn on as many lights as possible in the morning to get your body believing it's daytime.

Fourth, watch what you eat. We all tend to eat heavier "comfort" foods in the winter that tend to make us more lethargic and not want to get out and do things we normally would on a lighter stomach.

Finally, it's important to plan activities with friends and family during the winter months as well; staying at home and just watching television will only contribute to your feeling bored and depressed. Keep these thoughts in mind, take action on implementing the 5 steps above and you'll stop seasonal depression before it stops and you'll have the best winter ever!

Whenever agoraphobia is the topic of discussion, the question what

agoraphobia treatment is best, eventually comes up? But in truth it's very
difficult to say. It's a little bit like asking which pop group is best? The old
saying "one mans meat is another mans poison" is true for agoraphobia treatment
in more ways than one! It's really a matter of preference and one of weighing up
the odds.

Medication is a prime example, some people find Anti-anxiety agents, such as
Ativan helpful in controlling their symptoms, while others hate the thought of
taking any form of medication, it really is "horses for courses."

Not everyone gets on with counselling either, spending hours reliving traumatic
life events, over and over is particularly stressful to many people and progress
is often slow if any is made at all. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is
another area of agoraphobia treatment that has its supporters and detractors,
with many people complaining about the lengthy treatment duration
and achievement of only a desensitising rather than complete removal of the
agoraphobia.

Of all the difficulties experienced by people seeking agoraphobia treatment,
perhaps the most serious is the difficulty in receiving treatment at home. There
are very few opportunities for this either privately or through the public
health system and this one hurdle often represents the biggest single challenge
faced by agoraphobia sufferers.

One company offering home visits is BeOnForm, who use effective modern methods,
far removed from traditional CBT or counseling. The fact that their therapy is
conducted at the clients home, is totally non invasive and free from any type of
medication, makes them almost unique in agoraphobia treatment.

This modern approach to agoraphobia
treatment uses a combination of
Thought Field
Therapy (TFT) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to tackle the root
causes of agoraphobia in a fast efficient manner.

Whilst this doesn't work for everyone, their success rate is in the order of 95%
a far cry from traditional medicines meager achievements. Little wonder then,
that many people believe that this modern private healthcare, delivered at home,
represents the best agoraphobia treatment option available.

Laser hair removal is the use of laser therapy to remove unwanted hair in the body.

Laser hair removal is one of the most widely used methods to remove unwanted hair which may arise due to various reasons. Laser hair removal was introduced 10 years back. There are many devices used these days for the purpose of hair removal in the market. All the devices work on the same principle of photothermolysis which removes the hair follicle. There are several pre treatment procedures to be followed. Bleaching should be avoided. Laser hair therapy involves a few series of treatment. This may be done in several week intervals depending on the treatment and the patient. The frequency of the treatment may vary from individual to individual. Multiple treatments may provide best results in laser treatment.

An effective laser hair removal procedure will require several methods to be followed. The color of a person is to be considered during hair removal. The area where the hair is to be removed should be white. The skin should not be exposed to UV rays which may in turn cause sunburns. The next most important step is sanitation. The area should be completely clean for laser treatment. Finally in order to bear the pain while laser treatment effective anesthesia in the form of ointment may be applied.

How is it possible in the country leading the world in medical science, one in four men have a disabling illness that torments them and their families and most never receive treatment for it. That illness is Depression. Depression in men is often "covert depression" and it is a widespread problem in the United States. Depression in men often goes unrecognized--by themselves, colleagues, family and even physicians.

Depression in Men

As a men enter midlife, stressful factors can come into play, leading to a greater risk for developing depression. Depression in men gets at our very core sense of what it is to be a man, and has to be understood that way. Depression is a real illness; it is treatable, and men do get it. So how do you recognize depression in men?

14 Symptoms of Depression in Men

Many of the symptoms of depression in men are the same as you might find in women. Those symptoms are (most of these should be experienced for at least 2 weeks to be considered a symptom):

•	A persistent sad mood every day or nearly every day
•	Anger, mood swings and irritability
•	Loss of interest or pleasure in activities that were once enjoyed
•	Significant change in appetite or body weight
•	Difficulty sleeping or oversleeping nearly every day
•	Fatigue and loss of energy
•	Physical slowing or agitation
•	Feelings of worthlessness, guilt, shame and self doubt
•	Difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions
•	Change in interest regarding sex
•	Recurrent thoughts of death or suicide

In general, a person who is diagnosed with depression will have five or more of the symptoms listed above. Depression in men however will show the following 3 symptoms that many women will not:

•	Lack of ability to perform sexually as opposed to just lack of interest
•	Hiding of feelings
•	Outward aggression, irritability or hostility towards others

It is estimated that 40% of men will suffer some degree of depression between the ages of 40 and 60.

What Are the Treatment Options

Treatment choice depends on a number of variables, the patient's diagnosis, severity of symptoms, and preference. Treatment for depression in men may include antidepressant medications, psychotherapy or both. If you put off treatment, symptoms can last for weeks, months, or even years. Other helpful resources for treatment and recognition of depression include family members, friends, and employee assistance professionals in the workplace.

The fact is, depression in men may always have been far more common than we once thought because depression in men shows itself differently. Now that depression in men is out in the open more research and testing is being devoted to the subject.

Finally, even despite the differences in how depression shows up in men many treatments and techniques work equally well on both women and men. And luckily there are great resources available online and at your local bookstore to help you when deciding which treatment is best for your situation.

There are many types of depression and you absolutely must look at an individuals depression in the context of their diagnosis. Keep in mind how commonly people with mental illnesses are misdiagnosed, and subsequently treated with medication to treat an illness, set of symptoms, or type of depression the patient has.

It is very challenging for a parent to be able to determine when their adolescent child is just going through a phase or actually crying out for help and showing obvious sign of depression. An individual does not necessarily have all of this symptoms but these are the most common symptoms and essential essential for psychiatric medical providers to determine if and what a patient has.

Persistently sad, anxious, angry, irritable, or "empty" mood

Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism

Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness

Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed, including sex

Insomnia, early-morning awakening, or oversleeping

Decreased appetite and/or weight loss, or overeating and/or weight gain

Fatigue, decreased energy, being "slowed down"

Crying spells

Thoughts of death or suicide, suicide attempts

Restlessness, irritability

Difficulty concentrating, remembering, making decisions

Depression manifests itself differently in each and every person that is affected by it so there is no magical formula to use but a good healthcare provider, openness and honest about what an individual is going through, recognition of an illness and a desire to get help are all necessary to get that individual and accurately diagnosed by a psychiatrist. They are trained to see things that you and I don't see so a consult with a psychiatrist can be helpful in determining if your child is just going through a phase or is displaying the outermost shell of a much deeper problem.

Even in modern times where we believe we are open minded and civilized we still have a serious problem socially about mental illness. There are so many stigmas that go along with any type of mental illness, osme of them are more conscious than other but they exist, within most of us. DO not let stereotypes about mental illness prevent you fro getting help or helping someone else who needs it. The mentally ill, the depressed are not always capable of asking for help in a manner that is easily identifable to those on the outside looking in.

Depression is a serious matter, especially to those experiencing it. If you are around someone you believe is suffering from depression please talk to them about it or make sure they get the help they need, it could be a matter of life or death, literally.

As the recall gradually fails due to Altzheimers, many repetitive Alzhimers questions, anxiety and on occasion a distorted vision of reality can make the day by day living complicated for friends and family. At the same time, seen from the perception of the tolerant, it is frequently best if he can hang about at home, living in his usual atmosphere. The substitution between patient and family can be very easier said than done.

Many couples, where one get-together has Alzhimers, will express how they little by little move away from their normal social contacts and network as the syndrome progresses. A causative factor is the patients feeling of being an unknown. The circumstance can lead to struggle not only for the patient, but also for close own flesh and blood. It is essential to try and clash against this growth, to make an effort and keep community networks and the potential of incentive this offers.

After a few years where the disease shows only as a memory dilemma, Alzhimers will progress and affect the talent to read sensory impersonation and the gift to act in dissimilar normal situations. The patient will have an exertion administering the bills, interpretation the newspaper, watching TV or later on, to do anything. The need for rally round from close relatives or carers will increase as the disease progresses. There can also be hallucinations where the patient hears or sees a thing that doesn't exist.

One of the questions we at BeOnForm are asked over and over concerns
how to
treat agoraphobia? It seems that there is an awful lot of information on the
internet about treating all sorts of illnesses but when your search term is, how
to treat agoraphobia, every search seems to produce nothing of real value.

All that is about to change though, because if you found this by typing "how to
treat agoraphobia", you are about to find out!

Agoraphobia is the progression of panic disorder and is the fear of going
somewhere or doing something in case it will bring on a panic attack. It is
understanding this fact, that is key to understanding how to treat agoraphobia,
because it is no good treating agoraphobia without treating the causes of
panic attacks first.

Panic attacks are triggered as a result of anxiety, brought on by an
accumulation of past events and it is these past events, which prop everything
else up. So if you asked us how to treat agoraphobia, our answer would be "treat
the underlying cause first."

So how to treat panic attacks and how to treat agoraphobia should really give
you the same answer, namely "get rid of the negative programming in the
subconscious mind" and that's exactly what our therapy is all about. At BeOnForm
we concentrate our efforts on modifying the underlying beliefs stored deep
within the subconscious, that cause the conscious mind to create the negative
anxious thoughts that trigger anxiety.

To explain this in more depth, let me explain that the subconscious brain is an
awesomely powerful piece of equipment. Everything you have ever experienced,
heard, seen, read, been told, felt, seen on television or even imagined is all
stored away, deep within the subconscious and forms the basis of your view of
the world. In reality, your world, the world you live in, is created by and
coloured by what I like to call "rules," held deep within your subconscious
mind. You might think the world is a wicked place, or alternatively you might
think the world is a wonderful place, it's your view and yours alone. Your
beliefs are a result of what YOU have been exposed to in the past. And it's this
exposure which creates YOUR rule books about everything; your perceptions of
love, hate, friends and foes, good and bad. From external stimuli and our
perceptions of reality, our thoughts are formed and our thoughts precede our
actions and our emotions, good or bad, positive or negative, happy or sad,
confident or anxious!

So next time you hear someone ask how to treat agoraphobia, you can tell them
its all about the subconscious, perceived reality and rules created by past
events!

General anxiety disorder or GAD is a condition where the sufferer has
excessive anxiety on most days. Traditional treatment is initially the
prescription of buspirone or another anti depressant. Long term general anxiety
disorder sufferers are often given cognitive therapy, which until recently was
regarded as the number one method of dealing with the condition.
General anxiety
disorder affects about 2% of the population at some time or other, being
more prevalent in women than men the onset most often being before sufferers hit
the age of 30 and is characterised by anxiety that is widespread rather than
targeted as in a phobia.

People with general anxiety disorder experience a lot of anxiety, feeling
fearful, tense or worried most if not every day and is most often a condition
which lasts for years and becomes a way of life. Other symptoms of general
anxiety disorder are a feeling of vulnerability causing the sufferer to feel on
edge, people often describing it as feeling wired up. This heightened state of
tension, leads to excessive tiredness, with concentration lapses commonplace,
however this is often coupled with difficulty sleeping and insomnia, because the
condition keeps your mind racing making it difficult to relax.

Whilst some people are more anxious than others, stress of one type or another
is often instrumental in general anxiety disorder and often times acts as a
catalyst in triggering the condition. Most often though, its past events, that
play the major part in laying the conditions foundations, abuse, loss of a loved
one through separation or death, broken family life in childhood or any other
stressful event or series of events being typical examples.

Modern therapies such as Thought Field Therapy
are now highly regarded as treatments for this condition, with companies such as
BeOnForm specialising in treating general anxiety disorder, panic attacks and
agoraphobia.

One of the biggest challenges for someone suffering from agoraphobia is the lack of assistance available, whether private or not, at their own home. Phone any one of the companies that treat agoraphobia, or indeed the public health service and ninety nine times out of a hundred, your plea for help will be met with something along the lines of, "if you would like to come and see us."

It is nigh on impossible to get help with your agoraphobia if you are unable to travel and most agoraphobics find travelling at best extremely difficult, if not totally unachievable. People just don't understand how debilitating agoraphobia is. They say things like, "if you get a taxi to pick you up," "can someone bring you by car," or "is there a bus stop near your home," not realising that home for an agoraphobic represents a prison to them (all be it a safe one)!

I recently spoke to Lloyd Watkins of BeOnForm, who is widely regarded as being one of Europe's leading authorities on agoraphobia. Interestingly he said that most people he treats, contact him after exhausting all the available alternatives. But the surprising thing, he said, was that people were desperate, not because they had tried lots of different therapies in the past, but purely because of the lack of available options.

He went on to say "of all the curable illnesses, agoraphobia is probably, the most difficult to get support for, purely because of the large amount of time involved in its treatment coupled with the unwillingness of therapists to travel to their clients homes. This makes me almost unique in Europe, a sad reflection on society today."

So what of the future? How important a role will agoraphobia have in changing the way services are delivered? We would all like to see huge changes, that's for sure, lets hope that one day home visits will once more become more readily available, just like they were fifty years ago, when a doctor visited the sick at home and was respected for it!

Gez Agolli, ND, PhD, is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and the Managing Director of Progressive Medical Centers of America. In the past several issues of Christian Living Magazine, he has discussed detoxification (the removal heavy metal deposits through chelatin treatments and the use of the FIR sauna), hormone therapy for women, pain management, and weight loss.
He and his staff specialize in non-invasive practices that include supervised exercises, hyperbaric chambers to increase oxygen levels, electrotherapy, massage, nutritional guidance and pharmaceutical naturopathic medicines. Progressive's caregivers often ask if they may pray for a patient's healing and recovery. Faith is an important part of the Center's healing process.
What other ailments are of concern to the Center and to Dr. Gez Agolli?
CLM: You recently mentioned wanting to address the problem of ADD/HD. Would you first define that?
Gez Agolli: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has become an all-too-familiar medical condition affecting mostly children and adolescents. Brain cells communicate with each other using chemical neurotransmitters with messages relating to emotion, behavior, thinking, and attention. Although research is still ongoing, scientists believe that the ADHD problem lies with an unbalance or impairment of two of those transmitters.
CLM: 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (emphasis added.)" That being the case, then ADD/HD is certainly not a natural state. So, what then are the probable causes of the condition?
Gez Agolli: As one of our doctors noted in a recent article that an important factor to consider is food. Sensitivities to certain foods can cause symptoms of ADHD, and when that item is removed from the diet many kids show improvement. There's also the much reported ill effects of fatty acids, but the brain and nervous system is primarily composed of fats. There must be a balance for a fatty acid deficiency in order to function properly.
CLM: How would a parent know about such a deficiency?
Gez Agolli: A quick way to check is to consider a few symptoms. Is the child thirsty often or does he or she urinate often? Do they have dry skin, brittle nails, dandruff or dry hair? If you answered yes to any of these, your child may need some additional fats in their diet. Fats found in meat and chicken is not the answer. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and cod liver oil is needed. Make sure the fish you select has been monitored for mercury levels, a heavy metal that can cause ADHD symptoms as well.
CLM: How about the suggestion that TV and video games can be a factor?
Gez Agolli: Studies have shown that playing video games for more than one hour per day can have detrimental effects on your child's health, including ADHD, especially in adolescents. The moral appears to be: moderation. The problem may lie more in lack of exercise than what is happening on the screen. The bottom line is that if a parent suspects that their child may have ADHD then they should bring them to Progressive for blood tests and possible treatment.
CLM: How about the use of Ritalin, Dexedrine and similar drug therapy?
Gez Agolli: Many of those drugs fall into the Schedule II category that includes cocaine, methadone and opium. My recommendation is to use natural remedies, including pharmaceutical herbal medicines as a first line solution to ADHD.
CLM: You are also concerned with depression?
Gez Agolli: Absolutely. Twenty-one million American adults, mostly women, suffer from a depressive illness in any given year. That's a disorder that can impact a person's physical body, their mood and even their thoughts. Eating, sleeping, personal relationships, work—living in general can be affected by depression. What most people don't realize is that it's a treatable illness.
CLM: What are some of the causes of depression?
Gez Agolli: Excess stress, nutritional deficiencies, too much caffeine or sugar or additives, allergies, alcohol, nicotine, environmental toxins, and even endocrine disorders in the brain and thyroid.
CLM: Adjusting one's lifestyle may help, but it sounds like professional treatment is essential to achieve a normal balance.
Gez Agolli: That's true. When you feel that you or a loved one are showing signs of depression: loss of appetite, mood swings, anxiety, despair, headaches, or even entertaining thoughts of suicide, then professional help should be sought immediately. It could save literally save a life.
CLM: Depression and ADHD are two huge and complex subjects. Where can our readers learn more?
Gez Agolli: They can contact us by phone at (770) 676-6000 or go to our website at: www.progressivemedicalcenter.com. We will provide them with specific information to help them recognize the symptoms of those and other illnesses. Appointments may also be made for testing and treatment if needed. Progressive Medical Centers of America work alongside of traditional medical practices to provide a complete solution to whatever stands between them and God's promise of health and a sound mind.

<p><b>About the Author:</b><br />
Dr. <a href="http://www.gezagolli.info/">Gez Agolli</a> is a renowned naturopathic doctor, who has been effectively treating overweight problems by using non-surgical alternative techniques such as natural electrolyte drinks, Far Infrared (FIR) in successfully treating obesity.</p>

Treatments for agoraphobia are many and varied, but how effective are they?

Modern treatments for agoraphobia enjoy a far higher success rate than traditional methods, but to understand why, let us have a look at what is available.

The most commonly used treatments for agoraphobia are without doubt prescription drugs, the most familiar of which are; Tri-cyclic antidepressants (TCAs) such as Buspirone. SSRIs, such as Prozac, Zoloft and Paxil, or anti-anxiety agents, such as Ativan and Klonopin

The main issue with using medications as treatments for agoraphobia however is that people suffering from agoraphobia and severe anxiety disorders, often experience particularly strong and negative side effects to medication. This is partly because many of the people with general anxiety disorder, or in fact any of the panic disorders, are often hypersensitive to chemicals. Also medication targets the symptoms rather than the cause of the condition and as such when successful limit anxiety and panic attacks.

Other traditional treatments for agoraphobia include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which until recently was the treatment of choice worldwide for treating Anxiety disorders such as Agoraphobia and Panic Disorder. However, CBT has a major disadvantage in that part of the treatment involves ‘Graded Exposure' which entails confronting your fears head on, all be it slowly and gradually in a staged approach. Many people suffering agoraphobia find this intolerable and is the main reason for CBT's limited success.

Nowadays, treatments for agoraphobia have much higher success rates and do not involve graded exposure. Originally developed as a phobia treatment, Thought Field Therapy (TFT) has enjoyed phenomenal success in all sorts of areas of mental health including treatments for agoraphobia. When blended with Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) as pioneered by BeOnForm, TFT is unbeatable. Success rates as high as 95% are regularly achieved by BeOnForm's head therapist Lloyd Watkins, testimony to the methods efficacy.

The TFT, NLP blend used by BeOnForm targets the root cause of agoraphobia by dealing with the underlying causes rather than limiting the symptoms. For this reason the effects of agoraphobia are eradicated rather than reduced, giving a far more effective and satisfying long term resolution.

Panic attack treatment comes in various forms and anything from prescription drugs to the ultra modern therapies being popularised in the press and television nowadays. However the degree of success of the various panic attack treatment methods is really dependant on whether the treatment is targeting the symptoms or the cause.

So many of today's approaches to illness treatment, including the treatment of panic attacks and agoraphobia, target the symptoms rather than getting to the heart of the issue. The logical approach of correcting the underlying causes of an illness seems an obvious choice and is extremely effective when conducting panic attack treatment, but when it comes to treating panic attack and agoraphobia it's a method rarely adopted by the medical profession in general. The sceptics amongst us might blame the drug companies for this, but the truth is even less palatable, up until recently, there was nothing better available than prescribed medication.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has a far higher success rate than medication, but its not suitable for everyone, the old adage "horses for courses" being very true when we are talking about traditional therapy methods. Modern methods of panic attack treatment however have a far higher success rate that either CBT or Medication and slowly but surely, the medical profession is starting to accept that modern therapies also have their place in mental health.

The Complementary Therapy specialists BeOnForm are at the forefront of using Thought Field Therapy (TFT) coupled with Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) as a panic attack treatment. Their Head Therapist Lloyd Watkins, who specialises in Panic Attack treatment, uses this blend of therapies extremely successfully and has worked with panic attack sufferers and agoraphobics all over Europe and even as far away as the USA and Australia. When asked about the success rates of modern therapy types in panic attack treatment, Lloyd said "It's wonderful that there is now renewed hope for panic attack sufferers. For years, treatment success rates have been 30 or 40 % at best, now with modern methods, I'm seeing 93% to 95% success rates across the board:..and the 5% to 7% that I cannot initially help, always prove to be extremely sensitive to the influences of energy toxins. Providing these toxins can be identified and then avoided for three months or so, some of this minority can also then be helped."

The very term “High Blood Pressure” is related to the cardiovascular system of the human anatomy. Generally known as hypertension, high blood pressure is a condition that indicates the damage of cardiovascular system, resulting in the development of heart attack, stroke, heart failure and arterial aneurysm. Majority of African-Americans, middle-aged and elderly people, obese people, heavy drinkers, women who administer birth control pills are more prone to high blood pressure.

High Blood Pressure: Change in the lifestyle is the root cause:
It is pertinent to take preventive measures to keep your blood pressure under control. Undoubtedly, there are no such figures that indicate the normal blood pressure. But researchers have considered somewhere between 110/70 and 125/80 is normal for the healthy person. Anything lower or higher than the said figures could cause either low blood pressure or high blood pressure. Blood pressure can be affected by several factors and the most noteworthy cause is the change in the lifestyle. The moment you are adapted to different environmental condition, there is every possibility of changing in the food habit, and thus causing unsteadiness in the flow of the blood. However, in certain cases the impact of some medications also leads to high blood pressure in the human body.

Whatever may be the reason, you should take steps to keep your blood pressure under control. Researchers indicate that a healthy eating habit can maintain a balance in the blood pressure. They emphasize in the intake of fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy foods, whole grains, poultry, fish, nuts, red meats, sweets, and sugared beverages.
What is depression?
Depression is a common and potentially serious psychiatric disorder, characterized by a persistent lowering of mood, loss of interest in usual activities and diminished ability to experience pleasure. Everyone occasionally feels sad, but these feelings are usually fleeting and pass within a couple of days. When a person has a depressive disorder, it interferes with daily life, normal functioning, and causes pain for both the person with the disorder and those who care about him or her. Depression is a common but serious illness, and most who experience it need treatment to get better. The National Institute of Mental Health reports that more than 11.6 million Americans are suffering from depression.

What causes depression?
Depression is a complex disease that can occur as a result of a many reasons. For some, depression occurs due to a loss of a loved one, a change in one's life, or after being diagnosed with a serious medical disease. Other factors, such as stresses at home, work or school, are also important. We know now that people suffering from depression have changes in their brains compared to people who do not suffer from depression. The hippocampus, a small part of the brain that is vital to the storage of memories, is smaller in people with a history of depression than in those who've never been depressed. A smaller hippocampus has fewer serotonin receptors. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, a chemical messenger that allows communication between nerves in the brain and the body.

How does depression affect our health?
It restricts you from doing the normal day-to-day activities and jeopardizes your work, friendships and how you deal with others. Some of the biological underpinnings of the depression-disease relationships have recently come to light. For instance, take depression and heart disease. Depression might play a part in formation of blood clots via serotonin. Depression and serotonin deficiency go hand in hand. When there is less serotonin in the blood, chances of blood clotting increase. An artery-blocking blood clot can have serious consequences for the heart and the brain. . Depressed diabetics are much more likely to develop heart disease, blindness, or nerve damage. Depression makes the body less responsive to insulin via cortisol.

Are there ways to prevent depression?
Some forms of depression that are genetically mediated may not be preventable since current theory suggests that they may be triggered by chemical malfunctioning in the brain. However, there is good evidence that depression may often be alleviated or sometimes prevented with good health habits. Proper diet, exercise, vacations, not overworking, and saving time to do things you enjoys all help keep the blues at bay.

Treating depression
Depression can make your feel exhausted, worthless, helpless, and even hopeless. But it can be a short-term disorder, especially if you are in treatment with a qualified professional.

While negative thoughts and feelings may make you feel like giving up, it's important realizing that negative views are part of the depression and often do not accurately reflect your actual circumstances.

Stress is a normal feeling that happens in everyone’s life one time or another. It can encourage you to remain focus on something or get things done. We all have it sometimes in our life. Certain occasions are known to cause stress. For some people, it happens before having to speak in public. For other people, it might be before a first date. For people like me, it happens when they meet someone that they love deeply. What causes stress for you may not be stressful for someone else. However, a long-term stress over which you don’t have any control can increase the risk of diseases like depression, cancer, heart disease and a variety of other problems such as suicide.

Scientists have discovered that stress may cause stubborn belly fat. According to government researchers, there is a link between stress, tension, and excess belly fat. High levels of cortisol, stress hormone, can cause pound after pound of excess body fat to accumulate around your waist and even in other parts of your body.

Stress and depression are part of the Western civilization. They reach all classes of the American population. They often lead to taking antidepressants during several months with difficulties of interruption, without ever resolving the problems. To treat a depression or stress, it is essential to investigate the causes. Once the cause is known, it is easier for the stress to be treated even by the patient him/herself.

The most common causes of stress and depression are:
•	Sleep deprivation has a number of physical and mental effects
•	Alimentation - poor nutrition can contribute to stress
•	Thyroid problems can cause depression, fatigue, and lack of dynamism.
•	Environment - unsafe neighborhood, pollution, noise, being distracted by gossiping colleagues
•	Insulin hyper secretion - releasing excessive of insulin can cause hypoglycemia, fatigue and depression
•	Amino acid deficiency that are precursors of neurotransmitters, which plays an important role in our personality
•	Professional conditions â€" job dissatisfaction, insufficient pay, medical professions: doctors, nurses, paramedics, etc.
•	Family and relationship â€" can be a source of stress due to marital disagreements, dysfunctional relationships, jealousy, rebellious teens, and financial problems: bills, debt, high mortgages.

A lot can be done to naturally maintain a healthy positive attitude and prevent occasional emotional lows. It is a good idea to keep your natural feel-good chemicals flowing by eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and whole grain foods, ensuring plenty of fresh air, adequate sleep, moderate sunshine and regular exercise.

In addition, Natural remedies have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years to gently and safely support the healthy functioning of the brain and nervous system, as well as to encourage normal and efficient balance of emotion and a soothed state.
Meditation Article
www.buyawishone.com/GAIAM.html
You have looked at yoga meditation, and it looks like something that can give you benefits. You now have two courses that you can take. Either do meditation at home or go to yoga meditation classes. There are many benefits of yoga meditation classes, and we will be taking a look at them in this article.

In this article on the benefits of yoga meditation classes, you will find:
* Benefits Of Yoga Meditation
* Benefits Of Yoga Meditation Classes Vs Benefits Of Yoga Meditation At Home
* How To Find A Local Meditation Class And Get The Benefits Of Yoga Meditation Classes

* Benefits Of Yoga Meditation
Yoga is a form of meditation which has been practiced in some Asian countries for centuries. The benefits of yoga meditation are immense. Peace of mind is one of them. When you begin meditating, you will find that your thoughts are like a busy highway! You just seem to have so many. You may even be saying you don't have the time to meditate.

When you meditating, you will find that your mind becomes clearer, and you feel more serene and peaceful. Less stress becomes apparent in the face of adversity, and you can take life in its stride.

* Benefits Of Yoga Meditation Classes Vs Benefits Of Yoga Meditation At Home
The question is now that you want to start getting the benefits of yoga meditation, how do you start? There are benefits of yoga meditation classes, and there are benefits to meditating at home.

With Yoga, there are several postures and ways of doing meditation. The benefits of yoga meditation classes verses doing it at home, is that you can learn exactly how to do those postures. You also get to ask your class teacher questions you may have, and get answers to them. Some more benefits of yoga meditation classes, is that you get to meet like minded individuals, and also have more of a commitment to continue.

Doing yoga meditation at home is an option if you simply can't go to yoga meditation classes, though you would not be getting the full benefits of yoga meditation classes. You will not learn the correct postures, etc. But, still there is hope!

There are many yoga books, and yoga DVD programs that can help you get started in the meditation techniques of yoga. One problem however, is that if you do, do the meditations at home, and learn techniques, then if you decide to go to a yoga meditation class after, you may not see all the benefits of yoga meditation classes. For example, we are creatures of habit. Often when we learn something, even if we are doing it wrong, it can be hard to correct.

* How To Find A Local Meditation Class And Get The Benefits Of Yoga Meditation Classes
Getting the benefits of yoga meditation classes is possible today. There are many yoga meditation classes in the west, and finding one locally is possible. Whether you are in the US, UK, France or Germany or wherever in the world, you can find a way to get the benefits of yoga meditation classes. A lot of these classes can be found online now, and a simple look around some sites can help you find what you need.

Could correcting sleep apnea remedy depression? Studies link sleep apnea and depression, therefore the correction of sleep apnea may be a remedy for depression. For more than twenty years studies have suggested the existence of a relationship between depression and obstructive sleep apnea in the general population.

A researcher at Stanford University found that in the general population of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain about 800 of 100,000 individuals have both a breathing-related sleep disorder and a major depressive disorder with nearly 20% of the subjects who had one of these disorders also having the other. (J Clin Psychiatry 2003, 64:1195-200; quiz, 1274-6).

In clinical practice, the presence of depressive symptoms is often considered in patients with obstructive sleep apnea although sleep problems and specifically obstructive sleep apnea are rarely assessed on a regular basis in patients with a depressive disorder.

It is speculated that obstructive sleep apnea might not only be associated with a depressive syndrome, but its presence may also be responsible for failure to respond to pharmacological treatment and that undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea might be exacerbated by antidepressant medications, such as benzodiazepines.

Although the benzodiazepines (central nervous system depressant drugs) may reduce sleep fragmentation, their long-term use may also cause health problems, such as complete obstructive sleep apnea in heavy snorers…(Am J Med. 1990 Mar 2;88(3A):25S-28S).

Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common form of sleep disordered breathing and is defined by frequent episodes of obstructed breathing during sleep. It is characterized by sleep-related decreases or pauses in respiration.

The prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea is higher in men than in women and is found in all age groups but its prevalence increases with age. In children, the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea is less well known and has been estimated to be between 2-8%.

The estimated prevalence of sleep-disordered breathing in people between the ages of 30 to 60 years old was 9 percent for women and 24 percent for men. Male sex and obesity were strongly associated with the presence of sleep-disordered breathing. (N Engl J Med. 1993 Apr 29;328(17):1230-5).

Abnormal respiratory events are the hallmark of obstructive sleep apnea and are generally accompanied by heart rate variability and arousals from sleep, with frequent arousals being the most important factor resulting in excessive daytime sleepiness.

The extent to which daytime functioning is affected generally depends on the severity of obstructive sleep apnea. Symptoms other than excessive daytime sleepiness which greatly impact daytime functioning are neuropsychological symptoms such as irritability, difficulty concentrating, cognitive impairment, depressive symptoms, and other psychological disturbances. Therefore obstructive sleep apnea can easily mimic symptoms of a major depressive episode.

In 1997 researchers studied the relation between obstructive sleep apnea and depression and reported that 24% of 25 male patients with obstructive sleep apnea had previously seen a psychiatrist for anxiety or depression. (Arch Intern Med. 1977 Mar;137(3):296-300).

In 1989 researchers at the University of California Irvine Medical Center, found 67% of patients who presented to a major sleep disorders center reported an episode of depression within the previous 5 years, and 26% described themselves as depressed at presentation. (J Clin Psychol. 1989 Jan;45(1):51-60).

Of 50 patients who had severe obstructive sleep apnea most patients showed cognitive impairment; 76% had suspected or mild to severe deficits in terms of thinking, perception, memory, communication, or the ability to learn new information, resulting in a greater potential for being distractible, confused, and irritable. (J Chronic Dis. 1985;38(5):427-34).

In 1992 researchers in Spain found elevations in several depression scores in 23 obstructive sleep apnea patients (moderate to high severity) compared to 17 controls. Depression, schizophrenia, and hypochondriasis [chronic and abnormal anxiety about imaginary symptoms and ailments] were the highest scales. (Int J Neurosci. 1992 Feb;62(3-4):173-95).

Compared to patients who snore but do not have apnea, those with obstructive sleep apnea have more intense depressive symptoms (e.g., pessimism, inactivity, guilt) and somatic [physical] concerns. However, patients who snore but do not have apnea show psychological maladjustment that is in quality similar, but in quantity less severe, than those with obstructive sleep apnea. (Sleep. 1999 May 1;22(3):355-9).

Contradictory Research with Due to Limitations:

Researchers at the University of Kentucky, Department of Medicine, conducted a 5-year study of 95 normal older persons and did not find any significant depressive symptoms in elderly patients with a relatively mild obstructive sleep apnea, when compared to a control group without obstructive sleep apnea. (Chest. 1996 Sep;110(3):654-8).

However, there are multiple limitations to this study, besides a relatively small sample size for group comparisons and a non-representative study population.

Obstructive sleep apnea was only assessed at the start of the study, but not repeated at the five-year follow-up, i.e. neuropsychological data were compared between two groups based on obstructive sleep apnea status five years earlier.

Second, obstructive sleep apnea severity was mild even in the obstructive sleep apnea group.

Third, the groups differed significantly by age, with the obstructive sleep apnea group being older than the control group.

Finally, the drop out rate over the five years was very high with only 42 out of the initial 95 subjects completing the follow-up assessment. (Annals of General Psychiatry 2005, 4:13).

In 1998 researchers in Israel conducted a study comprising 2,271 patients (1,977 men, 294 women) with suspected Sleep Apnea Syndrome. They did not observe any association between respiratory disturbances and Symptom Check List 90 psychiatric questionnaire. (Chest. 1998 Sep;114(3):697-703).

However, the SCL-90 psychiatric questionnaire was developed as a screening tool for psychiatric patients, and not for a normal study population. Therefore, it might be a less sensitive tool with regards to milder forms of mood disturbances than other scales. (Annals of General Psychiatry 2005, 4:13).

However, the researchers in the abovementioned study did observe that among the minority of women in the study, those with severe obstructive sleep apnea had higher depression scores than those with mild obstructive sleep apnea. (Chest. 1998 Sep;114(3):697-703).

Fewer studies have focused on the screening for obstructive sleep apnea in primarily depressed study groups.

Sleep apnea was found in 42.9% of demented patients, 17.6% of depressives, and 4.3% of controls. A significant association between sleep apnea and dementia of the Alzheimer type was found in women but not in men. Moreover, severity of dementia was significantly correlated with apnea index. (J Clin Psychiatry. 1985 Jul;46(7):257-61).

All of the above suggests that obstructive sleep apnea might be an important confounding factor for studies on mood disorders in general, as its presence is not routinely determined in either research studies examining mood or clinical settings.

More studies are required to assess the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea in primarily depressed patients, particularly as it can be suspected from existing studies that obstructive sleep apnea is greatly under diagnosed in depressed patients.
A small 30ml Shot Glass of Kakadu Juice contains as much reseveratrol as four litres of red wine!
Mounting Evidence Shows Red Wine Antioxidant Resveratrol Kills Cancer
Did you read todays headlines about the caner killing ability of resveratrol? Seems hardly a week goes by without hearing more news about the super antioxidant resveraltrol. But scientist do not recommend increasing alcohol consumption especially for women because of the increase or breast cancer recently linked to alcohol. You are far better off getting your reseveratrol from natural non toxic sources like grape juice. The problem with grape juice is it contains less reseveratrol than does red wine so one would have to drink large amounts and most fruit juices are high in calories and sugars which can pack extra weight on fast. A much better solution is "Kakadu Juice" because a 1oz or 30ml dosage contains as much resveratrol as 4 liters of red wine without high calories, sugar and the toxicity of alcohol.
If you didn't see the news today or headlines in your local newspaper you can catch up on the latest findings at sciencedaily.com in the Related Resources
Rochester researchers showed for the first time that a natural antioxidant found in grape skins and red wine can help destroy pancreatic cancer cells by reaching to the cell's core energy source, or mitochondria, and crippling its function.
Resveratrol appears to kill off cancer cells by depolarizing (demagnetizing) mitochondrial bodies within tumor cells. Resveratrol is 100 anti-cancer drugs in one. Resveratrol works in so many ways to block cancer, researchers can’t find a cancer-promotion pathway it doesn’t inhibit. It is virtually non-toxic since, after oral ingestion, it is quickly metabolized by the liver, attached to a detoxification molecule called glucuronate, which renders it harmless, though biologically inactive, at least for a time.
As a pioneer in this emerging sector of the Australian economy, Kakadu International, creators of Kakadu Juice, is proud of the knowledge that every bottle of Kakadu Juice is not only making people healthier but also providing employment for Aboriginal Australians.

You are going through a transition phase if you are a teen or a parent of teenage son or daughter. We know that this is the period of great turmoil physiologically and psychologically for your grown up kid. The psychiatrists say that the parent should grow up with the kids to understand their needs and aversions. In most circumstances, the parents often blame their kids for irresponsible behavior forgetting their own pasts. Such and many other things results in a kind of rebel attitude among these teenage children. And when this attitude doesn't get any vent, he or she succumbs to depression.

•	Acute depression- In most of the cases, teenage depression is usually momentary or for a small period of time and does not herald any radical change in his or her lifestyle. It may be just in the form of anxiety over examinations, depression as a reaction to some event at school or college, failure in a certain ordeal, fight with a friend or break up with a girl friend. These are the most common causes of teenage depression and usually do not last for a prolonged period of time.

•	Parental disharmony- Unfortunately this is a very common cause of teenage depression. Discord among both parents, sudden demise of one of the parent, physical abuse, or undue parental pressures can be the reason for a boy or girl going into anxiety problems or depression.

•	Unawareness of self-change- this is the age when a girl or boy undergoes tremendous changes on both physical and mental levels. The physiological changes like getting attracted towards opposite sex, masturbation, etc may cause unnecessary tensions among youth, especially so if these subjects are taboo at home and school. Because of this, the grown up kids may fall prey to wrong information and start feeling guilty leading to depression.

•	Family history of depression is also one of the causes of depression.

Because of one or more of these causes, your teenager fails to elicit good things in life and feels everything is too bad here. When he cannot share his thoughts to the near and dear ones at home, he feels further put off from the world. However, your teen needs a proper care and definitive treatment if he is suffering from persistent depression. One of the most important aspects of treatment is a family therapy centered at counseling and behavior therapy for teen and his or her parents. Along with this, drug treatment with anti-depressants may be decided with an expert opinion. Teenage is precious and will never return again. Let's make the best use of it and enjoy life!

The author is an expert writer and healthcare professional.
Depression is a serious disorder that can lead to changes in mood, thinking, and behavior at home, in school and with peers. If left untreated, it can progress to actions with severe consequences including death. While many will recognize depression in their teenagers when they seem sad or blue, some parents may not be aware of other signs of depression in their teens such as them being bothered by things that previously were not bothersome, loosing interest in things that used to be of interest, having decreased ability to concentrate or finish a task, experience a lack of energy, loss of appetite or marked increased in appetite, and or feeling hopeless of the future. Another symptom that should raise a red flag for a parent that their child may be depressed is when s/he begins to participate in risky behaviors.

A teen interview study was done at the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation which compared teens who refrained( abstainers) from engaging in sexual activity , alcohol intake, tobacco or other drug use with other teens who engaged in low and moderate risk behaviors such as experimenting with substance abuse or sex, and those teens who engaged in high risk behaviors such as exchanging sex for drugs or money or abuse of intravenous drugs. What was found was that those teens in the abstaining group showed no differences between boys and girls in their likelihood of having symptoms of depression. Among girls, however, risk taking girls, no matter how modest the degree, showed increased risk of symptoms of depression when compared to girls who abstained from risk activity. For instance, girls who experimented with tobacco and alcohol were 2 xs more likely to have symptoms of depression than girls who abstained completely. Furthermore, girls who experimented with sex were almost 4 xs more likely to have depression, while girls who used intravenous drugs were almost 18 xs more likely to experience depression than those girls who refrained completely of these risk behaviors. With boys, those who drank alcohol or who were binge drinkers were two and one half times more likely to experience depression while those who used intravenous drugs were 6x more likely to have symptoms of depression when compared to boys who abstained completely. Among teen who engaged in low and moderate risk behaviors, girls were significantly more likely than boys to report symptoms depression.

For those who participated in high risk activity, there was no significant gender difference in the symptoms of depression except for exchanging sex for money or drugs. In this category, girls were 7 xs more likely than boys to report depression.

Thus, as a parent, if you become aware that your child is experience symptoms of depression or engaging in risky behavior, you may want to have him/her evaluated by a health provider. Not only can you have your child evaluate to any medical concerns, but also a mental health examination can be performed and appropriate recommendations can be made to improve the state of being of your child. Not every child will be prescribed medication or warrants medication for depression. Depending on the child severity of symptoms, counseling of various kinds can be initiated. Remember, it is far better to recognize that your teenager may need some extra mental support and get him to a health provider who can assist him, then to ignore the signs and symptoms of depression and face a terrible tragedy.

Depression is a malevolent disease that affects around 10% of women and 3 to 5% of men worldwide. While there is no clinical classification that separates male depression from female depression, clinicians have reason to believe that depression in men may take a different curve from the way women face depression.

Clinicians have discovered that males react to depression in a different way from females. Depression in men is manifested with more dominance in certain symptoms, as opposed to the symptoms that women experience.

Men experience depression with more aggression than women. Men are more prone to irritability and sudden anger. Women, on the other hand, are more prone to show depression by lethargy and a feeling of low self-worth.

Males are also more prone to showing greater risk-taking behavior, more aggression, and are more likely to manifest a loss of self-control.

Male depression is far more dangerous in that they tend to attempt suicide with methods that are more likely to result in death.

Depression in men is rather alarming because males tend to clam up instead of talk about their feelings. Men would rather bottle up emotions as opposed to talking to others about these. This would result in the man’s family and friends not being aware of the internal goings-on in their depressed loved one.

This disconnect from social and psychological support only exacerbates the condition, and would intensify the motivation for suicide.

What is more dangerous is that men are more likely to use “fool-proof” suicidal methods that increase the chances of death truly occurring. Because of this, depression in men should be watched more closely and not taken for granted.

If you note that your father, brother, husband or any other close male friend or relative has changes in behavior: i.e., anger/aggression and irritability are more frequent and intense, try to take note of his behavior, observe, and try to reach out to him. It would help your loved one if you would take an understanding stance towards his illness and be supportive all throughout.

Depression in men may be more alarming, but still has remedies. Just be observant, aware, and remember to care enough to be involved in what he is going through.

Discover <a href="http://www.20daypersuasion.com/psychiatrist.htm">how to fight depression</a> by becoming your very own psychiatrist.
Having the ability to understand the dreams that you have can actually be very hard if there are certain conditions that are present at the time that you are trying to understand them. In this article you will learn about the times in which you will find that dreams are really hard to understand. The first way that dreams can be hard to understand is if you actually imagine that the dreams are meaningless. When you think about it, dreams are known to be the greatest buried treasure that is a part of our life. All of the actual dreams that we have are filmed live as well as in person who takes place inside of us. It is also known that dreams are able to reveal the objective facts that reflect our Subjective interior, one great thing about dreams is that they are not able to lie because they don’t actually know how to.

When you think about it there are many different reasons that we have dreams, the first reason that we have dreams is to help us, the second reason that we have dreams is to heal us, the third reason that we have dreams is to teach us and the fourth reason that we have dreams is to free us. It is also known that we have dreams to prepare us for certain situations that take place in life and they are also present to inspire us as well. Now that you know the different reasons that we have dreams, you should be able to use them as a guide to determine why you are having dreams.
One thing that you need to make sure that you always understand is that dreams unfold a little at a time meaning that just because you are not able to understand them at first doesn’t mean that you will not be able to understand them in the end. As you take the time to take a closer look at them you will be able to see the silver lining to the frame, which will shed some light on why you had that particular dream. It is known that you are able to unearth the major treasures of self-discovery if in turn you are actually willing to take the time to dig into your very own dreams. There so not many people that are able to benefit from what is known as one of the greatest gifts that human possess and that is the guiding connection that they have with the source and that is known to be a tragic blind spot in our individual culture.
At first you may think that dreams are nonsensical but that is only because of the fact that dreams actually contain many different layers of dense meaning. It is known in turn that if you believe that there is actually no meaning to the dreams that you have you may never even take the time to look to see what each individual dream means to you. Most people that have dreams get stuck at the cultural roadblock and they are never able to move from that one point. If you have realized why this can act as a barrier to understanding your dreams you may be able to overcome the number one obstacle.
Learning what each dream that you have means can help you grow in your very own personal development so take the time to think about your dreams, don’t just put them to the side and think that they are meaningless because they are not, in fact they hold a great spotlight on the life that you are living or the life that is in store for you. Taking time to understand your dreams can help you with personal development.

Author is a good article writer. He owns many articles

Your exposure to heavy metal toxicity is coming at you from a number of different directions, and it should not be a total surprise that rates of DEPRESSION,Iinsomnia and Neurodegenerative conditions such as Autism, Bipolar-disorder are on the rise.

No Margin Of Safety.

There is no margin of safety with heavy metal toxicity, even the smallest amounts of these toxic metals can gradually build up in your soft tissues and bones, as in the crystal clear case with babies and children being deceptively given multiple toxic vaccinations that contain mercury.

That onslaught of heavy metal accumulative exposure, that may have started in your childhood, has by now resulted in many pieces of mercury and other such metals lurking in your tissues and bones, as if they are ticking time booby-traps ready to cause mayhem to your health. With some people, the health troubles emerge almost immediately after initial exposure, while for many others it is as if there is a time-lag.

You will find aluminum in popular antiperspirants and a number of cosmetics, and in the pots and pans that are in your kitchen at this minute.

Baby Bottles, Deadly Plastics and Infant Formulas.

The New York Times of April 19th, 2008 reports that the Canadian departments (known as ministries in the rest of the world except the USA, ditto for date format) of Health and Environment have (at long last) imposed a ban on plastic bottles for infants, because they are made from polycarbonate, whose main ingredient--BPA (Bisphenol-a), a widely used chemical that also mimics a human hormone, is indeed toxic.

Reader, did you notice the operative and very worrisome words, widely-used and mimics. For how long has all that been known before now?? That should bother you greatly. Do you have children, and were you once a baby?

Senator Charles E. Schumer of New York, ah yes! at times these "good" folks regain their senses and usually not for long, has risen to the occasion in defense of your health, intends to introduce a bill that would ban many uses of BPA related plastics, including non-food items, that toddlers may put in their mouths. That ban is also to include anything used to contain food or beverages, such as the use of BPA coatings inside Infant Formula cans.

There is more bad dirt. If you were to know, according to independent laboratory analyses of some of the popular infant formulas, what is in those formulas, you would start to walk through walls like those sailors on the Eldridge during the "Philadelphia Experiment".

Reader, You Were A Child Before.

The Canadian Health Minister (secretary in USA) Tony Clemont informed the gathered reporters, that well over 150 clinical research reports, prove that use of Bisphenol-a in baby bottles causes behavioral and neural symptoms later in life. Bingo! That is hitting the nail straight on the head. Right there is one of the causative factors of DEPRESSION, bipolar disorder, autism, AD/HD, and the list continues.

And here is something else equally deadly, clinical research reports also show that very low levels of BPA do harm fish and other aquatic life.

It needs mention once again, that mercury is definitely in dental fillings and the flu shots. Bam, Bam, Gotcha!. Then there is lead in peeling paint and old water pipes.

As if that's not enough, even CNN of april 19th/08 chimmed in, the good folks at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in New Jersey, have issued stern warnings about the health hazards of lead found in artificial turf installed at schools, parks and stadiums across the country. Now reader, just to begin with, there over 3,500 such fields in this country, and would you believe it, about 800 more are installed each year.

It is indeed scary enough that two such fields in that State, the Frank Sinatra Park at Hoboken and at the College of New Jersey in Ewing, have been put off limits after detection of unacceptably high levels of lead (as lead chromate) in the synthetic turf. According to that State's epidemologist Dr. Eddy Breswitz, that toxic lead can easily be inhaled or even swallowed as airborne tiny fibers or dust by you or your child or anyone playing on such fields.

Lead causes brain damage and other illnesses particularly in children, and those same effects can manifest later in adulthood after hibernating, so to speak, for years.

Then there is industrial pollution, your use of pesticides, herbicides on your lawns or garden etc etc, and dare not forget the "wicked additives" in the processed foods and in the artificial beverages. Monosodium Glutumate is well known as damaging to your nervous system.

Here is a surprise for you, take a look in your bathroom. Did you know that most anti-bacterial soaps are based on a nerves-killing chemical closely related to Agent Orange?

Your continued exposure and accumulation of this toxicity over time, can lead to a varied number of symptoms like joint pain, high blood pressure and neurological disorders such as bipolar disorder or chronic depression.

The connection is clinically simple to make, but while the EPA has very very very lukewarmly, and with a velvet hammer at that, outlined exposure limits to "ensure" public safety against heavy metals, the medical mainstream has yet to fully acknowledge the threat that heavy metal toxicity poses on an everyday basis, at least to the human body. Consequently, the many subtle signs of ill-health that accumulate over time are easily mistakenly attributed to a different cause.

Reader, you can ably surmise what happens when the root cause of ill-health is not correctly identified and addressed.

In the meantime, the only universally accepted method of heavy metal detox or removal, is a complicated and expensive process known as, intravenous chelation, available only at speciality clinics, takes a lot of time and often depletes your body's inventory of essential trace minerals.

Introducing The Clinically Safe Natural Chelator.

This natural chelator known as MCP is a complex polysaccharide in a class of polyuronides. Reader, no worries, this writer will simplify that for you shortly; and you are very familiar with it's components except they have to be in a very specific form.

It's molecular structure is the key to it's abilities to bind to and eliminate heavy metals effectively and safely and in a very short time. In solution, it forms what is referred to as an egg-box, in which long negatively charged fiber chains stick together in groups that create pockets. Positively charged metal cations are attracted to these chains, and are thus loosened from your soft tissues. They then become trapped in the pockets of the egg-box from where they are very easily excreted from your body.

The effectiveness of that excretion is amazing, exactly as Mother Nature intended, because the major obstacle in the intravenous chelation modality, arises in the digestive tract. Even when an agent has managed to loosen and bind toxins from your tissues, more often than not, this process is easily nullified in your intestines, where the heavy metals are easily reabsorbed. The only way to prevent this is to somehow block re-absorption, such that all the toxins are eliminated together with your body's waste.

This Natural Chelator Has A Mistress.

Alginates is another amazing group of polyuronides obtained from a specific type of seaweed and are historically used to treat acute radiation poisoning. Oh yes, you guessed correctly, that like MCP, the structure of the alginates enables them to trap heavy metals in pockets. So, by pairing the two in combination, the reabsorption of the toxins in the intestines is prevented.

Equally important is that neither one of this natural duo can bind to your essential trace minerals, therefore you wont be risking deficiency during the process of detox at your home.

Do bear in mind that the loosening of the heavy metals from your tissues and bones occurs in a gradual manner, clinically proven safe and efficient.

Detoxes Your Body Clean With Just Two Capsules A Day Of MCP.

Clinical reports in the Biomedical Environmental Science of Sept. 1991, yes reader that is almost two decades ago, establish a very clear connection between prolonged exposure to the toxins and the development of disease in you. Of course the medical mainstream would rather ignore or deny that connection, and then present a mis-diagnosis to keep you as a cashcow that keeps buying the useless drugs with the attendant deadly effects.

The reports clearly show that the diseases from heavy metal toxic exposure can be very effectively reversed, safely, gently, inexpensively and without any bad side effects whatsoever.

Take the example of a 63 year old female who had a history of toxic metal exposure, and consequently suffered from chronic anxiety and depression. Within two months of being administered MCP, her lead levels decreased by 100% and her mercury levels decreased by 83%. She hand't felt better in years until MCP came along. The remainder of mercury is because her teeth carry dental fillings that are toxic. Take a look at it right here:toxic dental fillings eating you alive

Then there is a fifty seven year old male with suspected mercury exposure, and a decade long history of headaches, constipation, IBS and a family history of alzheimer's disease. Within twelve months of using MCP his mercury levels decreased by 73%, and almost all his health complaints disappeared.

Here Is Your MCP.
MCP is here http://www.healthbodyhuman.com

You ought to note that both MCP and the mistress alginates are safe for long term use, particularly if you are facing constant exposure to heavy metals, and therefore a maintainance dosage beyond the time-interval of removing the toxins, is advisable. Also, note very carefully that MCP should be used at least two hours before or after taking any other medication, because the dietary fibers in MCP easily bind to drugs in your body and prevent their absorption

The need for this product gets more and more urgent everyday, given its swift abilities to knock out chronic diseases caused by toxicity, while also increasing your chances of recovery from any illness in the process.

MCP stands for Modified citrus pectin. Citrus pectin is a plant fiber found in the white part of the rind of citrus fruits. You may be surprised that always the best answers or solutions are the simplest. MCP has a lot more superb abilities as you will soon find out in a number of upcoming posts at this site.
Law is one of those funny things that seems to rumble along in the background to most people’s lives without them ever really thinking too much about it. Until they need it, that is. Then you find it has crept up behind you and is shouting, “Boo!” â€" makers of medications to treat heart attacks, please note.

So it is with the idea of pre-emption. Suppose you buy a product. Since this site talks about Zoloft, you buy some Zoloft â€" one of the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors used to treat depression. Now why might you buy this Zoloft? It would usually be on the advice of your regular doctor. He or she examined you and gave you a prescription for Zoloft. Now how did the subject come up in connection with your mood problems? Did you see those TV adverts a few years back, “Zoloft for everything”? Or were friends talking about it? However you or your doctor came to know about it, you bought that Zoloft.

Alongside some of the biggest brands in the world, the law lays down what is usually a simple idea â€" product liability. If you buy our hypothetical Zoloft and it injures you, you can sue the manufacturer and recover the money to pay for the medical bills and any other losses you suffered. The money will not take away the pain (emotional or psychological) but it can help you feel better. I can just hear those little wheels turning over in your brain â€" the millions who have died from smoking tobacco or that nice little old lady, Stella Liebeck, who was burned by hot coffee from McDonald’s. Well suppose you actually took Zoloft and it injured you, you could sue. I mean, Zoloft is a product, right?

Well, the latest example of the “three strikes and you’re out” rule is currently playing in the Supreme Court. Some lawmakers have been giving the pharmaceutical companies immunity from liability unless they defrauded the Food and Drug Administration. I can see how impressed you are. The FDA is there to protect your interests. If a medication or a medical device is not fit to be allowed out on the market, the FDA can refuse to approve it, put black box warnings on the label or withdraw the medication/device from the market. So, the argument goes that if the experts at the FDA approve a medication or a device, that pre-empts your right to use product liability laws to claim damages. Unless the manufacturer deceived the FDA, of course.

So the first strike came in in February, 2008 Riegel v. Medtronic, Inc. where the Justices held that the pre-emption clause in the Medical Device Amendments of 1976 bars common law claims for injuries caused by a medical device approved by the FDA. Then came Warner-Lambert v. Kent in March where the Justices tied 4-4 on the validity of a Michigan law barring suits against drug companies for FDA-approved products. So now we are waiting for the decision in Wyeth v. Levine which is due to be heard this autumn. This deals with whether the failure of a manufacturer to warn the FDA that one of their products may be dangerous amounts to fraud and so allows the product liability claim. Put another way: suppose that the makers of Zoloft knew that their medication could harm you, but did not tell anyone about it. Should you be allowed to sue?

It sounds so simple. They should be liable because they knew it was dangerous. McDonald’s had 700 customers being burned by their hot coffee and did not serve it cool or warn people. If Zoloft is dangerous, it should be a slum-dunk case against the makers. Yet the lawmakers in various states around the US have been busy protecting pharmaceutical companies from just this kind of action. It makes the game of politics and special interests all the more interesting to watch. How do you want the Supreme Court to rule?

Learn more about the information you read here on depression treatment and by John Scott at http://www.forgetdepression.com.

Types of Depression

Bipolar depression (manic depression) - Normally apparent when someone has a sudden,
extreme changes in mood. One minute you are in an elevated state of happiness on
top of the world, while the next minute you are feeling like rubbish.

Postpartum depression - Normally apparent when a mother has a prolonged
sadness and a feeling of emptiness in the period which follows child birth.

Dysthimia - A slight similarity with depression as it shares some common
symptoms , it is a lot less severe, however it still a serious illness and
should be treated as soon as possible.
Cyclothemia - It has a slight similarity with Bipolar depression, because
anyone who suffers from this mental illness may occasionally suffer from severe
changes in their mood.

Seasonal Affective Disorder - Falling in a rut only during specific
seasons. People actually struggle during the Winter and Fall seasons in most
